Good morning friends! Hope your Friday is treating you well.
Time for another monthly update on my little man Hunter. I have loved every stage since he’s been born, but now that he’s playing, interacting and getting more of his own personality, it’s been especially fun.
New this month:
Rolling over! It all began a week or so ago and now he rolls like a champ. Only to the left though. It’s so fun watching him roll over to actually get something he wants. He’s much happier being on his tummy when he’s the one that gets himself there too.
Sitting, and preferring to play that way. I get some me time on the couch in the morning while he plays by himself.
We’ve started solids and he’s actually eaten some. You can read more on that in my baby led weaning post, but I’ve seen banana, pear and avocado come through, and the little bit of spoon fed veggies changed his poos color. I try to do some type of food eating/playing every day, although that doesn’t always happened.
Hunter had his first full day away from me on Sunday while I was at a turbo kick training. He was a champ and took his bottles from Jacob so well. He was even grabbing for the bottle and hold it while he ate. Zero tears and zero fighting it. They had lots of fun playing together and even headed out of the house to sushi. I missed my little man, but was happy to see he did so well!
No more infant sling in his bath tub. We’ve gone to sitting! He can play a lot more easily now. Bath time is still his favorite. He can be grouchy before a bath, but once he’s in there it’s all smiles.
Da-da-da-da-da-da. His favorite thing to say and his face looks hilarious when he’s concentrating on talking.
He’s such a cuddler. He used to fall asleep while I’d hold him in the cradle position, now he likes to rest his head on my chest or shoulder and fall asleep like that. It is the best. He’s always done that for Jacob and now me too.
We nixed the infant car seat for the stroller runs. He chills out like a big boy now.
Grocery shopping is a whole new experience too with him up in the front. He always attracts lots of attention. Good attention.
For the most part he’s still sleeping pretty well. He typically sleeps about 9 hours a night. We still have random wake ups, like last night, but it could be because of all the new foods we’ve been introducing, or maybe he’s teething too. He’s been gnawing like crazy and a bit more drooly.
At his 6 month check up he was right on his growth chart (23%) at 16 pounds 2 ounces. I forget how tall he was, but still right on that 50% growth chart.
He’s been awake a lot more. It went from 1-2 hours of wake time, to 1.5-3 hours. A nice big jump with way more happy play time.
Child watch has also been going much better the past couple weeks. A good change from last month. It could be because of timing, I’ve been teaching more 9am-ish classes compared to noon classes… or maybe he’s just getting more used to it. Whatever it is, I’ll take it!
All in all, he’s just a super happy boy. We definitely got lucky there!
Happy weekend all!
