We’re passed week 16 already? Really?! I though week 15 flew by, but it was nothing compared to week 16. Is this going to happen the entire 40ish weeks? I have a feeling that answer is yes…

From an orange to avocado. My orange was rounder than this avocado, but the avocado is definitely longer.

How’s baby growing?

Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length. Right now, he’s about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren’t recognizable yet. He’s even started growing toenails. And there’s a lot happening inside as well. For example, his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop. — from babycenter

What’s my body doing?

The view I have from up above always makes my belly look bigger than in the pictures. I’m actually surprised each time we take pictures and I almost want to re-take them to get pictures of how it looks to me. Along with a little more growth, I’ve noticed my stomach feeling harder. Before it was more squishy and I had the ability to suck it in a bit if I wanted to. Now we’re firming up and staying out.

I wore a more fitted shirt to work this week and had a ton of co-workers (who know I’m pregnant) make comments about how it seems like I’ve begun to pop a bit. I liked those comments. 🙂

Maternity pants continue to be my favorite thing to wear. Well… okay, workout clothes are definitely my favorite thing to wear, but I can’t wait them all the time. 😉

I read that with all my increased blood volume I may have more liquids coming out of me (that sounds really weird). Think sweat, snot n stuff. Get ready for a little TMI… I have had to pick my nose like crazy every day. Seriously. I know some people are really anti-nose picking, but if it’s there, I gotta get it out. Hey, it’s the truth.

How am I feeling?

A bit drained and emotional. I mentioned my stress last week and it still continues. I think my emotions are finally catching up with my stress making it hard to hold in my tears. Poor Jacob didn’t know what hit him the other night when he’s just acting normal talking to me and I start to cry. The flood gates opened and now I’m a bit teary each day.

The act of crying actually makes me feel a lot better. Holding it all in only makes me want to cry more, so when I let it out, it’s a relief.

We finally got a crate for our cat who had been waking me up in the middle of the night and early in the morning. I’m hoping the combo of letting my tears out + no rude kitty awakenings helps my emotions.

How I’m moving

I realized I didn’t run this week. If I don’t get to it on the weekend it doesn’t happen because it’s just too dark before and after work. I hope to go for a nice easy run on Saturday or Sunday.

Teaching has been a blast still… did you catch my top 10 reasons why I love teaching the other day?

Here’s how my week went:

Saturday – taught 45 minutes of cycle + keep your core strong workout
Sunday – walked the dog 25 minutes
Monday – keep your core strong workout
Tuesday – taught 60 minutes of cycle
Wednesday – taught bodypump (60 mins)
Thursday – taught 60 minutes of cycle in the morning, then 60 minutes of cycle in the evening
Friday – full body strength training + cardio (60 mins)

I had a lotta cycle teaching this week compared to my usual week of just once.

What am I eating?

Ummm can you guess? Sweets! Each day for my after lunch dessert I’ve either brought a chocolate covered peanut butter cookie dough ball, or a piece of Katie’s deep dish cookie dough pie (there are secret beans in there!). I try to have my sweets in the afternoon so I’m not getting the caffeine from the chocolate at night right before I go to sleep.

Well I finally decided I’m eating too many sweets. My 3 pound increase this week can’t be all baby. Yesterday I tried to see if I could go without sweets and I sure could!  I actually felt better at the end of the day than most days.  My stomach has been wreaking havoc on me this week, and I can only think it’s because of my lack of fruits/veggies, intake of sweets and treats plus the stress.

It’s my goal this upcoming week to up my veggie intake, so be on the look out for a wonderful pre-Christmas salad series.

  1. You are beginning to pop a bit! I love that you got up 5 times to pee! That’s too funny. I get up 1-2x any given night so pregnancy should be a sleepless BLAST! 😉 I LOL’ed at the nose-picking too (I’m the SAME way!)

  2. Yayy! Hahah. I definitely had weeks where the gain was much higher than other weeks. It was one of those oooops moments 😉 Don’t worry- it’ll even out in the end! You look totally adorable

  3. ill be 16 weeks on thursday!! i know you’re much farther now but its cool to see how other people felt throughout their pregnancy. congrats!
