Well hello a new pregnancy week. Where did you come from?
As I mentioned last week, the fruit/veggies was going to be a big change. Last week’s spaghetti squash showed how long our baby was. Now we get to see how big this little guy is if he’s all curled up into a ball.

How’s Hunter growing?
Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With her sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. And now that she’s more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango), you may be able to see her squirm underneath your clothes. Blood vessels in her lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby’s increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing her for entry into the outside world. My body decided to share a new discomfort with me this week. I thought of it as a preview of what’s to come. On Monday my belly was kind of achey all day and extremely heavy feeling. By the evening I was having to lift it up a bit to feel comfortable, even laying down on my side. The extra weight just felt like it was pulling down a lot, so when I went to bed even I propped a blanket under my belly so it wouldn’t pull to the side so much.
Luckily the next day and since then I haven’t had that feeling, but as my belly grows I see it happening more often.
Wonder if I’ll need to invest in one of those belly supports that help hold your belly up.
Any moms out there with recommendations please share!
A slight irritant, headaches are back. Just two days now and a little bit of tylenol doesn’t even make them go away. Last time I got headaches Jacob had to work some nasty knots out of my neck, so last night he got at them again. My neck and shoulders were sooooo sore, but it definitely felt like a treat. That + a heat pad helped, but again I woke up (even in the middle of the night) with this headache. Maybe it takes a day or so for the massage to work its way through?
How I’m feeling
Over the weekend I shared my struggles with pregnancy weight gain. I think just getting it all out instead of bottling it up really helped me feel better, along with all your sweet comments too.
Other than those rare moments of weight struggles, I’ve felt really happy, but t.i.r.e.d. Oh so very tired. I’m getting to the point where I need my 8 hours of sleep a night, and feel so drowsy/headachy if I don’t get enough. This had definitely made my mornings a little more rushed with all the extra snoozing I’m doing. Still, I make it to work on time every day!
I’ve been finding more me time to read lately, which is nice because I also get to sit or lay and be comfy. Both books I’ve read lately are pregnancy/baby related, so I hope to share a quick little review about both soon.
How I’m moving
Here’s a glimpse at my workouts this past week.
Saturday: rest day
Sunday: rest day
Monday: 25 minute incline treadmill walking
Tuesday: 30 minutes of walking + practicing for body pump launch
Wednesday: 60 minute full body strength workout + taught 60 minutes of body pump
Thursday: taught 60 minute cycle class
Friday: 60 minute full body strength training
Since I’ve felt a lot more sleepy lately, teaching after a long day at work is a little more exhausting. I always, always enjoy it, but I do feel like all I want to do after I teach is sit on the couch. Maybe I need to up my sleep to 9 hours a night? Hmmm I’ll have to figure out how to work that in. At least on the weekends I can catch up.
What I’m eating
So much food! Maybe my tiredness has to do with Hunter growing a lot, because I’ve definitely felt more hungry lately. I snack a lot in the morning, then in the afternoon and again in the evening. I tried to eat bigger meals but I just felt uncomfortably full, so lots of extra snacking is how I’m getting the extra food in.
Both cottage cheese and cheese have been a couple of my favorites lately. Mmmmm we love cheese in our house and the sharper the bite the better. Definitely need to stock up this weekend!
For breakfasts I’ve been alternating mainly between cinnamon roll custard oats, shredded apple custard oats and very cocoa custard oats. See a theme? I’m obsessed with custard oats.
Lunches have been salmon feta grain salad along with cucumbers/carrots and usually a handful of almonds after. Maybe a piece of my moms blackberry pie one time too… maybe. 😉
Dinners haven’t been too exciting. The meals I made were a little disappointing. One night I made a broccoli quinoa casserole that was okay. Another day I made crockpot baked beans that needed more ketchup and sweetness added to them after. We did have rocking beef burgers on night. Loved those.
Snack have been a huge mix of different things: chickpea cereals to munch on, peanuts and raisins, almonds, apples, oranges, a egg sandwich, green smoothies.
Since figuring out that bananas give me heartburn I’ve limited them to once a day and before noon. I seem to be okay then, but if I eat one in the afternoon/evening, even if it’s hidden in a food, I get heartburn. Having the fire run up my throat while I teach is never a fun time.

- Total weight gained: 19.5 pounds (no real change from last week)
- How far along: 24 weeks, 2 days
- Exciting plan for the weekend: begin registering… just the cloth diaper shop this weekend
- Goal for the weekend: clear out a couple drawers that will be Hunters (the nursery is also my closet room)
- New additions for Hunter: Tons of 6 month clothes from a lady at work work! All washed and folded up.
Our favorite? The cute little Hurley sweatshirt. 🙂
