Every week gets more and more exciting. Technically I am 34 weeks right now, which means in 3 weeks, when I’m 37 weeks along I’m a-okay with him making an appearance any time. Since the beginning I’ve always had the date June 1st in my head as our delivery date, which would put me at 41 weeks, but now that I’m getting closer, I don’t want to wait that long! I’m just so dang excited for him to get here… in at least 3 more weeks when he’s full term.
How’s our little Hunter growing?
This week your baby weighs a little over 4 pounds (heft a pineapple) and has passed the 17-inch mark. He’s rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and his skeleton is hardening. The bones in his skull aren’t fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for him to fit through the birth canal. (The pressure on the head during birth is so intense that many babies are born with a conehead-like appearance.) These bones don’t entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as his brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood. — from babycenter
He’s got some serious strength that boy. The kicks are getting even more intense each day, and sometimes pretty uncomfortable. Normally his back will be pressing up against my left side, which feels super hard and you can see it’s pressed out, while a foot is pressing out on my right side. It gets so uncomfortable sometimes I have to push his little foot back in, that boy is s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g my stomach like crazy!
Something new that I’ve added in this week is going back to the chiropractor, which I haven’t done since I got pregnant. That pain that I mentioned back in my week 31 update still continues on. It seemed to get better during my 32nd week, then came back in full force again. I decided to finally go back to the chiropractor to get some relief. My regular chiropractor didn’t have any same day appointments last Friday, and I wasn’t going to wait until Monday, so I found a chiropractor that works with preggo ladies like me, and got in the same day.
I’m soooo glad I did!
First off, she was pregnant too, goes to the same midwifes as us (and did for her first kid too) and is super nice.
Secondly, she has a pregnancy pillow so I can lay on my stomach while she does some adjustments. This was huge. I want to lay on that pillow all day long.
The adjustments are a lot more gentle than I’ve had before, and don’t involve much twisting. She’s been working on a lot of pressure points on my lower back/upper butt and each time makes my legs the same length (the right is a bit shorter and has always been). With all the relaxin surging through my body everything is starting to loosen up. She’s been taping up my back to provide some extra support too.
One of the biggest helps has been an ice pack she gave me. I’m on orders to ice my back/upper butt 1-2 times a day, and honestly, it helps so much. All I was doing before was heat, because ice packs aren’t fun, but the ice actually really work! New this week she wants me to foam roll my legs/glutes every other day or so too.
Something else that’s new this week… ice cream 🙂 I’ve been really good about upping my veggies throughout the day, but then at night this crazy dessert monster comes out and I want sweets. Pre-pregnant Heather was easily able to say no because I was accustomed to not eating as much sugar. But pregnant Heather is different. Baby likes the sweets! Maybe that’s why I gain 1-2 pounds every week… hmmmmm there might be a connection there.
Workouts have been super this week. Every day I feel extremely tired, but then once I workout I’m revived of my energy.
Saturday – taught 60 minute bootcamp + 45-60 minutes of yard work
Sunday – rest
Monday – so much walking! 20 minutes with Joe, 15 minutes on my break and 1.5 hours with Joe, my friend Lexi and her 4 kids — I was pooped!
Tuesday – 60 minute water aerobics
Wednesday – 20 minute walk with Joe and Jacob + taught 60 minute body pump
Thursday – taught 50 minute cycle class
Friday – rest… so far
During cycle I seriously thought I was going to pee my pants. I always make a few trips to the bathroom before I teach or workout, but every so often he’s put pressure on my bladder and I thought I was going to pee! Luckily I’d just have us change positions to/from standing/seated and all was okay. It was a close call though….
And speaking of my cycle class, I had a funny thing happen last night after it was all done. I was outside the room talking to a friend and I little 3-4 year old girl came up and started rubbing my belly, telling me how pretty my baby was, and asking when she was going to get here. I told her he’d be here in about 1.5 months, then she proceeded to talk about a new baby and another new baby and a lot of stuff about babies. All while rubbing my belly. It was pretty cute and my first experience of someone randomly coming up to touch my belly without asking. I didn’t mind though… she was a little girl 🙂

Have you ever gone up and rubbed a pregnant lady’s belly? Or, has that happened to you?

You’re looking great Heather! I’ve had 2 people at work rub my belly so far… It really doesn’t bother me, but if a stranger would do it, I’m sure I would be a little freaked out. So cute about the little girl though!
Yeah if I know the person I don’t mind, but if a stranger (non child) did it, I’d be a little freaked out too!
You look beautiful! I’m so, so excited for you to finally get to meet your baby.
I’m not a mother myself, but I’m an infant/toddler teacher, and it seems that every other colleague of mine is pregnant right now or just had a baby. At lunch the other day several of them were talking about the day their babies were born and meeting them for the first time…one of my colleagues said that the first time she saw her babies (twins!) was the most amazing moment of her life 🙂 I can’t believe you are going to be seeing little Hunter so soon!!!
I can’t believe I get to meet him so soon too! It’s going to be a great day 🙂
SO fabulous that the chiro worked out well! Always good to feel a bit better when preggers. Looking adorable. So glad you’re still active and teaching- love love. Enjoy the hair cut!
I must say you may pregnancy look beautiful! Pregnancy is a wonderful time (I have a 2.5 yr old and a 7 mo. old), but for me it always comes with its fair share of insecurities and awkwardness as well! I guess I’m human? 😉 But I just wanted to tell you that you look absolutely gorgeous, and I think that if I had your skin, I would never wear makeup again!!
Jessica, this has to be the sweetest comment ever. NEVER have I thought anyone would want my skin! It’s always been a source of annoyance, but pregnancy has made it a little less annoying. You made my day 🙂
You look beautiful! I love when you hold up a fruit or vegetable to show how much you have grown!! Time is getting closer!
