6 Ingredient Healthy Ground Chicken Burger Recipe
Get ready for the best chicken burgers! Instead of chicken breasts, we’re using ground chicken to leave you with juicy, tender burgers that are full of flavor.
If you’re a fan of regular burgers using ground beef and are hesitant to try cooking with lean meat, have no fear.
While these patties use lean ground chicken, you are not left with a dry burger.
With the ground chicken, we add red onion, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, oat flour for bread crumbs, dijon mustard, sea salt, and pepper for flavor and to keep the chicken patty moist.
The patties bake in the oven, or can be cooked on a grill pan, and are perfect when paired with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and your favorite burger sauces!

Alternative methods to cook the chicken patties
Here are 3 different methods for cooking the chicken burgers.
You can bake these patties.
Shape as the instruction listed above, but place on a parchment paper lined baking sheet in a single layer.
Bake at 400 degrees until your burger patty is fully cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees, which will take 15-20 minutes.
Another great way to cook these is on the barbeque over medium-high heat.
I suggest placing the formed chicken burgers on a cookie sheet in the fridge for the freezer for 20 minutes before cooking to help them stay together on the BBQ.
They will take about 5-6 minutes per side.
Lastly, they cook up great in the air fryer!
Preheat the air fryer to 380 degrees F. Once preheated, air fry for 12-15 minutes, or until the internal temperature is 165 degrees. The cooking time will vary depending on how thick you make your patties.
How to make this healthy chicken burger recipe low carb
You can make these healthy burgers work well for many special diets, including low carb.
Instead of using hamburger buns, try a lettuce bun instead!
When mixing up the burger mixture, substitute almond flour for the oat flour to keep the recipe lower in carbohydrates.

Substitutions, optional variations & dietary adjustments
Below you’ll find a list of substitutions that will work well in this juicy ground chicken burgers recipe.

Ground chicken – While ground chicken is the star of this recipe, it can replaced with almost any ground meat. For another lean option, try ground turkey or lean ground beef. Ground pork and ground lamb will work as well!
Egg – Using mayonnaise in place of an egg will also act as a good binder.
Oat flour – The oat flour helps to bind the patties together. You can replace oat flour with bread crumbs or panko bread crumbs. You could also take ½ a slice of your favorite bread, break it into tiny pieces, and use that!
Garlic powder – Onion powder is a delicious option to replace garlic powder. You can also use fresh garlic in this recipe too!
Avocado oil – Use your favorite cooking oil here. Olive oil, refined coconut oil, and ghee are all good options to use.
