Books are here!

And my next 30 days towards becoming a certified group fitness instructor are jam packed.  Basically me and the 2 inch text book are going to live together.  I hope Jacob doesn’t mind the 3rd wheel.

Here’s the plan…

Days 1-5: Essentials of exercise
Read chapters 3,4,5,6,7 and appendix C (pg 501-512)
Complete study guide assignment (pg 15-23)

Days 6-10: Essentials of nutrition
Read Chapter 8 and appendix B (pg 495-499)
Compete study guide assignment (pg 23-25)

Days 11-15: Safety guidelines
Read chapters 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16
Complete study guide assignment (pg 25-27)

Days 16-20: How to teach – basics
Read chapters 17, 19, 20 and 21
Complete study guide assignment (pg 27-40)

Days 21-23: How to teach – multitraining
Read chapters 24, 26, 27, 28, 29 and 31
Complete study guide assignment (pg 40-44)

Days 24-27: Special populations
Read chapters 35, 36, 38, 39 and 40
Complete study guide assignment (pg 44-47)

Days 28-30: Business skills and legal responsibilities
Read chapters 44 and 45
Complete study guide assignment (pg 47-48)

The good news: the 30 day plan will work out for me because I’m about 35ish days from my group certification testing day.

The bad news: I’m already behind on my reading.  To stay on track I need to finish the first section by Friday.  Ouch!  Lots to read and study!  Plus I need to remember to get CPR/First Aid in too sometime.

I plan to share a bit about each section as I go along.  I figured some of you would find it interesting, plus it would help me recall what I’m learning too.

I’m off to teach the chest section this morning. Smile

Have a great Wednesday!

Ugh- I totally remember trying to get all that done! Do you have a practical test too? Best of luck girl! I know you’ll rock it

    1. Get Healthy with Heather says:

Yup practical and written. I’m not too worried about the practical, more so if I need to know all the different muscles/bone stuff.

Yay! that’s exciting. 🙂 I’m also thinking about becoming a certified group fitness instructor. I already teach a class at my University’s rec center (you don’t have to have a certification, just CPR) but i’ve been wanting to teach at the gym i work at. Who are you going through? ACE?
    Good luck! 😀

That’s very cool Sharelle! I’m going through AFAA, but there are a lot of different certification programs. AFAA is the one the gym I want to work at likes. AFAA inclues a practicle exam too instead of just written. I’d ask what their preference is at the gym you want to teach at to help you choose.
