For my long run I fueled with shredded apple oats.
The bit of peanut butter I added on top gave me that extra energy I needed for a kick butt run.
I ran 4.5 miles in 37:20. I just had to check my pace for this run because I ran the same amount of time with my dog Joe a couple weekends ago, but we only went 4 miles.
New pace without Joe over 4.5 miles (pausing my watch at the long stop lights) = 8:17/mile
Pace I ran with Joe over 4 miles (no stop watch pausing) = 9:22/mile
That’s a big difference! By no means will I stop running with Joe, but I think I’ll leave my longer runs for myself during my Hood to Coast training.
I added a fun dailymile widget on the left side. I’ll be entering my runs + time and it’ll keep tabs on how much and how fast I run.
Have you ever used dailymile?
I could not have asked for better running weather too. Overcast skies, but 60 degrees. I dressed a little too warm though. Especially when I was around tall buildings and there wasn’t wind I felt a tad warm.
My tank on top was ideal.
But knee length running tights were a bit warm. Next time I’ll go for shorts + a tank.
Kept it simple with just a watch and sunglasses.
And my favorite Nike Free running shoes. I love them even more now then when I first bought them.
How would you dress for your outdoor exercise in overcast but 60 degree weather?

I typically like to wear capri pants when running. This morning it was around 55-60 degrees and I wore capri tights with a long sleeve tee. I only ran 2 miles, so it didn’t get too hot, but I did sweat. The outfit seemed to work well though for the temp. Any hotter and I wear a tank top.
I’m not much of a shorts person, or at least I have not found a pair I like to run in…I find they always ride up on me and I’m always fussing with them!
The heat is almost unbearable–and I’m not a runner!! I’m impressed 😀
I would dress the same way! Oh my goodness I can’t imagine 60 degree weather now. In Virginia I was running in the high 90’s with a heat index of over 100! lol man. Now that I’m down in Florida it’s kind of the same… but surprisingly not as hot. I actually read some tips yesterday about running in the heat and one of the tips was to wear lightweight long sleeved tops and long loose shorts (all breathable fabrics of course), but it’ll keep you cooler since your skin won’t feel the direct heat from the sun. But it seems that you are running in really nice weather so you don’t have to worry about that 😉
XO!
That’s really interesting and actually makes sense. 90 degrees… geez I shouldn’t complain!
