Creamy Chocolate Avocado Popsicles with Protein
Why get store-bought fudgesicles when you can make this?! These popsicles are a seriously satisfying chocolate treat for hot summer days. Not only are they cooling and delicious, but they’re super nutritious too!
The avocado adds healthy fats and an extra-creamy texture without making the popsicles taste like avocado.
With around 7 grams of protein per popsicle, these give you a little more staying power than your average fudgsicle.
You know exactly what’s in them and can feel good sharing them with your family too!

Why you’ll love these chocolate avocado popsicles
Creamy and fudgy – Ripe avocado, banana, and cottage cheese create an ultra-creamy base that gives these frozen pops a fudgesicle-like texture.
A boost of protein – Cottage cheese and chocolate protein powder add 7 grams of protein per popsicle.
Naturally sweet – A ripe banana adds natural sweetness, so there’s no need for maple syrup or another added sweetener. If you prefer a sweeter chocolate popsicle, you can absolutely add a little maple syrup to taste.

Nutritious ingredients you’ll need
Scroll down to view the recipe card below for the full ingredients list, nutrition facts, and step-by-step instructions.
Avocado – Use one ripe avocado. The healthy fats are the secret to the creamy texture of these avocado fudge pops.
Banana – A very ripe banana adds sweetness and helps make the popsicles creamy once frozen.
Cottage cheese – Adds creaminess and protein. It blends completely smooth, so you won’t notice the cottage cheese texture.
Almond milk – Thins the chocolate mixture just enough to make it easy to blend and pour into popsicle molds. Other dairy or nut milks can be substituted.
Chocolate protein powder – Boosts the chocolate flavor while adding plenty of protein and additional sweetness.
Unsweetened cocoa powder – Two tablespoons of cocoa powder give these pops a rich, strong chocolate flavor. Cacao powder can also be used.

How to make chocolate avocado popsicles
Step 1: Add the avocado, banana, cottage cheese, almond milk, chocolate protein powder, and cocoa powder to a blender or food processor.
Step 2: Blend until the chocolate mixture is completely smooth and creamy. Scrape down the sides as needed and blend again so there are no pieces of avocado or cottage cheese remaining.
Step 3: Pour the mixture evenly into 6 silicone popsicle molds. Gently tap the molds on the counter to help remove any air bubbles or air pockets. Insert popsicle sticks and freeze for at least 4-6 hours, or until completely firm.

Step 4: To remove the frozen pops easily, run the outside of the popsicle molds under warm water for a few seconds, then gently pull them out. Optional: Dip in melted dark chocolate chips for a decadent chocolate shell!

How to store
Keep your chocolate avocado popsicles in their molds or transfer the frozen pops to an airtight freezer-safe container. For the best creamy texture, enjoy them within about 2 months.
You can also remove the popsicles from their molds and add into individual popsicle bags for easy grab-and-go storage.

Substitutions, optional variations & dietary adjustments
Below you’ll find a list of substitutions that will work well in this creamy fudgesicle recipe.
If you try something different out, please leave a comment below letting us all know how it turned out!
Avocado – The avocado gives these popsicles their rich, creamy texture and adds healthy fats. For the closest swap, try ½ cup full-fat coconut milk or coconut cream. The flavor and texture will be slightly different.
Banana – Banana adds natural sweetness and helps create a creamy texture. Swap it with ½ cup mango for a fruitier flavor, or leave it out and add 2-3 tablespoons maple syrup for sweetness.
Cottage cheese – Swap the cottage cheese with ½ cup plain Greek yogurt. Full-fat or 2% Greek yogurt will give you the creamiest result while still adding protein.
Almond milk – Any milk works here! Try dairy milk, oat milk, cashew milk, or coconut milk. Full-fat coconut milk will make the chocolate avocado popsicles especially rich and creamy.
Chocolate protein powder – Vanilla protein powder works well – just add an extra tablespoon of cocoa powder to keep the strong chocolate flavor. You can also leave the protein powder out, but the popsicles will have significantly less protein and sweetness.
Cocoa powder – Cacao powder can be swapped 1:1 for cocoa powder. Dutch-process cocoa powder is another great option if you want an extra-rich, dark chocolate flavor.
