adventures at LEGO kids fest

by Heather Englund

Happy Saturday!  Hope your weekend is starting out great.

As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, we were headed to LEGO® kids fest in Portland that evening.  Before leaving I found the most LEGO-ish shirt that Hunter had to wear… which was just a yellow robot.  Worked for me!

Hunter and I went along with my sister-in-law Chelbe, and nephew Caden.  When we walked into the Oregon Convention Center, we immediately saw tons of life size LEGO statues.  First up – LEGO man.

Caden was super excited about Lightning McQueen.  Hunter thought it was just another cool red car.

Jacob wasn’t feeling well so he stayed home, but he would have LOVED batman, so I had to get a picture of him.

There were a ton more statues I didn’t get pictures of.

For older kids and families there were LEGO building competitions and different games.  However, our kiddos are still little (Hunter is almost 1.5 years and Caden is almost 3.5 years), so just playing with LEGO bricks and looking at the big statues was super fun.

We found an area to build your own LEGO car, then race it down a track.  We spent a loooong time there.  I bet they could have stayed there the entire time, however, we only had 2 hours on our parking, so eventually we moved on to see what else there was to do.

One area was dedicated to girly LEGO bricks.  The boys didn’t mind though. 🙂

We found a live LEGO man, so we had to get a picture with him.

And Jacob’s a huge sponge bob fan, so this picture of Hunter was for him… although sponge bob got cut off in my hurry to get a picture before Hunter moved.

Now I’ll show you Hunter’s absolute favorite spot of the night…

The huge pile of LEGO bricks!  Okay, he probably could have stayed here the entire time too.  He played there for a bit in the beginning, and a bit in the end.

We didn’t see it, since we didn’t make it to all corners, but I guess there was a duplo area too.  I think we may need to get Hunter some duplos for Christmas. 🙂

And that was our Friday night!  Thank you to US Family Guide for the tickets and opportunity to check out LEGO kids fest.  I’d totally go back again.  Also, I’m thinking LEGO land if we ever went down to California would be super fun too.

Local friends, LEGO kids fest is going on all weekend long and there are still tickets available here.

Have you ever been to a LEGO kids fest or LEGO land?  Tell me about it!

Happy weekend all!
