There is something so comforting about waking up on a slightly chilly day, grabbing a blanket and a hot cup of coffee decaf chai tea.
Since it’s Monday and all, it’s time to get a little something off my chest. It’s a good thing though!
Remember my grand plan to cut caffeine? Well I did it! I started slowly, reducing down to 1 small cup of coffee in the morning and limiting my caffeinated tea. Then I switched to no coffee in the morning but caffeinated tea for a couple days. Still I was waking up with a caffeine headache until I got my fix.
So I just quit.
No more caffeine, just decaf teas.
And I feel great!
It is amazing waking up, not NEEDING to get caffeine in my veins. I still enjoy a warm drink in the morning and my decaf chai with soymilk does the trick.
Before I got to the final cup of coffee, I did try out something new.
I received 2 bags of seasonal limited edition coffees from foodbuzz and godiva coffee ~ caramel pecan bark and pumpkin spice.
I quickly opened up the pumpkin spice, brewed a pot a couple weekends ago and indulged in this slightly sweet, flavored coffee. While I wouldn’t want it as my everyday coffee, it was a nice treat. You could taste the pumpkininess, but it wasn’t overpowering.
Jacob wasn’t a bit fan, and I knew he wouldn’t be a fan of the caramel pecan bark either, so instead of just holding onto it until I decide I might want some coffee again, I’m going to give it away!
Yup that’s right, there will be three winners here.
One winner will receive the bag of Godiva Coffee~caramel pecan bark.
Two winners will receive coupons for $2 off any Godiva Coffee.

How was your weekend?
Mine involved our first dinner party feeding 9! Jacob thought our house would be too small but it was just right.
I made 2 different kinds of lasagnas… pumpkin mushroom and spinach zucchini.
And of course donuts… double chocolate stole my heart.
Happy Monday! Time to figure out breakfast… always a good time.
Heather

That mug is too cute.
I’d admire your willpower in giving up caffeine. Sadly, I am not as strong as you (yet…)
weakness, I want the coffee! Godiva sounds indulgent 😉
It wasn’t easy at first, but did get easier.

off to go follow you
Yay I’m so glad you loved it! I can’t wait for more 100 workouts… I think it may be my new weekend thing!
I’ve noticed a lot of people giving up caffeine recently and I’m not clear on the why. Now, granted, I only drink one cup of espresso (which has less caffeine than a cup of coffee) a day – assuming I drink any – but is there something I’m missing? I get that having 10 cups of coffee a day is overkill, but was there something recent that prompted the change?
Just curious – no judgement here, you just happen to be the one I’m asking! 🙂
I have noticed a few other people kicking caffeine too. Personally, I find that I’m pretty sensitive to caffeine and get headaches crazy fast if I don’t get it at the same time each day… Which is kinda annoying. If you checked out my original post on it there is a bit more info: http://www.healthywithheather.com/2011/09/the-one-about-cutting-caffeine/
I have nothing against coffee… Not one bit. I love the stuff (sometimes too much!) I’m just pretty sensitive. I’m sure I’ll add it back into my life again :). Thanks for the question!
Thanks for the explanation – glad the caffeine reduction plan is going so well so far!! 🙂
