Creamy Green Smoothie + A {Str}awesome Monday Morning Giveaway!

by Heather

This weather is crazy.  Yesterday, picture this: sunshine, blue skies and mid-80s.  A beautiful sky to end the day with.

Today.  Rain + thunder and lightning?!  Yuck not what I want to go running in.  Poor Joe was so scared of it he crawled into the bath tub.

Yesterday was a big day around here.  It was my AFAA primary group fitness certification exam day!  I feel really good about, but man was I beat by the end of the day.  I got out 1.5 hours early since there was only 4 of us testing, but there sure was a lot of info to go over/practice.  I will definably be posting about the entire thing more later this week so that all you soon-to-be AFAA group fitness instructors know what to expect.

I should find out in 3-4 weeks whether I passed all the sections.  Fingers crossed!

Remember this photo from yesterday’s fun 9 minute morning workout, or if you follow me in instagram? (psst – you can find me under gethealthywithheather)

It was the first green smoothie I’ve added avocado to you will not believe how creamy that made it!

I felt energized (from the quick workout too), refreshed and like I was doing my body good.

And I sure was doing my body good – this is one n.u.t.r.i.e.n.t packed smoothie.

Creamy Green Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups soymilk (or milk of choice)
  • ¼ avocado
  • 1 small frozen banana, diced
  • 2 cups fresh spinach
  • 2 tbsp wheat germ
  • 3-4 ice cubes

Directions

  1. Combine everything except the ice cubes in a blender (I used my magic bullet).  Blend on high until fully combined, then add in the ice cubes.  Blend until super smooth and creamy again.

Simple as that!

Not only was this oh-so-tasty (you mainly taste the banana, no spinach flavor at all), but fun to drink.

I received this beautiful, reusable glass straw from Strawsome.  At first it was a little strange to drink out of… glass is kind of hard to bite on.  But once I got used to it I really enjoyed using the glass straw.

Plus, I seem to go through plastic straws a lot and using + throwing them away is just a waste of $$.

Giveaway

Guess what?

Daedra, the creator of Strawsome, is going to give away one of her beautiful decorative straws to a lucky reader!

I am so excited for you guys because now that I’ve got one of these straws, that’s all I want in my house!  I think you’ll love em too.

You can enter a bunch of ways.  The more entries the greater chance to become the winner!

  6. Subscribe to receive the posts in your inbox (on the left side).

I wish you could all win, but there can only be one.  So hurry and enter!

A winner will be selected Saturday, June 30th and will be chosen via random.org.  This giveaway is open to both US and Canada readers.

I’m off to do an insanity workout… just not feeling the rain this morning.  What I am feeling is getting my morning sweat session going!  What’s on your Monday morning agenda?  Hope it’s a great one for you!

I think I’d go with the plain Barely Bent smoothie straw! I would love to have a glass straw because I’m always too ‘green’ to buy straws and I end up with smoothie all over my face 🙂
