When I went looking for a running app, there were a few necessities I had in mind.
First I wanted to see my mile splits. Just like this.
Next I would like to be told when I reach a mile and my pace so I’m not looking at my phone much during the run.
Lastly, I didn’t want to pay anything for it.
I found all those things in Endomondo! A reader actually suggested I check it out when I mentioned my running app (mapmyrun) didn’t show me my mile splits. Since then it’s been my go to app for running.
It’s super simple to use. You just press and go. Another feature I like is the auto pause, which comes in handy for stop lights or running with the jogging stroller and stopping to adjust Hunter.
It saves all your history (if you create an account) so you can see your improvements over time. At least that’s the goal. :). Looking through the history you can view your route, run info and mile splits.
Best of all it’s totally F-R-E-E! You know I love that price. 🙂
This weekend we’re at the beach with Jacob’s fam. The annual run with cousin Paul happened this morning. Last year we did sprints, this year we tackled 5 miles. The voice on Endomondo was motivating…. we kept getting faster and faster with each mile. By the end we were pooped (me more than him), but it sure was fun to run with someone and be challenged to run faster and further.
Do you use an app or running watch/GPS to track your runs? Which one?
Have a happy weekend!

Sounds great! i use runkeeper and love it too! Its so nice to have a handy little app keeping track of all of your stats!
Bruce recently treated himself to purchasing the Nike watch, then when he gets home from a run downloads the info. Its cool to see the exact route show up and the km markers. The app you use sounds great. Might have to look at that one for myself, although I never carry my iphone when i run so that would take some getting used to.
I use Nike+ but I think I need to switch because it doesn’t track my splits.
I have a Garmin Forerunner 305 that I love! I even use it while biking. It has a lot of the same features as your app (mile splits, notification at every mile, autopause). Glad you found something you love 🙂
I’m excited! I’m going to download this now!! I have used Nike+, but it is not consistent. Sometimes it gives splits, sometimes she talks to you every quarter of a mile…it’s not ideal 🙂
