Hello!  Hope you’re all doing well on this wonderful Friday afternoon.  Today I’ve got another Hunter post for you guys!  He is now 20 months old and such a happy little man. I wonder if his baby sister will arrive before he turns 21 months (on the 28th).

Lately the biggest and coolest change we’ve noticed is his ever increasing vocabulary. He said his first four word sentence, “the plate is hot” about a week ago. Jacob and I were so impressed! He’s started saying things like “daddy’s shoes” or “kitty’s food” instead of just saying “daddy shoe” or “kitty food”. He knows so many family members names too. My mom was going over the alphabet with him a couple days ago tying together the letters with people’s names (like H for Hunter). He’s just a little sponge right now and loves learning.

Songs, rhymes and even parts of books he picks and remembers.  We have a few library songs we do all the time at home.

He loves playing Legos and cars with Jacob. And Jacob sure loves it too. Building is another favorite. I feel like he’s such a boy. Anytime we go outside, he has to find a stick and carried it around.

His mouth is finally starting to fill up with more teeth! He already had 6 teeth (4 top, 2 bottom) now he has a molar that’s broken through, another top tooth (maybe canine) that’s broken through and another molar is showing signs of making an appearance soon. I think maybe another bottom tooth too. Teething always seems to bring out a diaper rash for him, even though he barely wears diapers now. Poor guy’s bum looks so painful. I’m hoping the teething calms down soon mainly so his diaper rash can heal. It’s even blistered a bit,so sad.

Aren’t these two just the cutest?!

Hunter’s such a sweet kid. He loves giving hugs and kisses anytime he says goodbye. He won’t go to bed without hugs, and not just one shoulder, he has to hug both of your shoulders. He makes sure to say “other one” just so you know the other shoulder needs a hug. Sometimes the first shoulder gets another bonus hug too. I love it.

He also loves holding hands, especially his own hand.  He even says “own hand” if he wants to hold his own to do something instead of mine – like walking across a wobbly bridge at the park.

Hunter got to play in snow for the first time this month.  He took a face plant into it almost the instant he was out there, and then preferred to watch the snow from the window.  Next time I’m hoping we do some snowman making. 🙂

While I think he’s going to be super excited to have baby sister here, and I think he’ll be a good helper, I’m anticipating it will be an adjustment. He is not a happy camper when I hold other little kids.  But maybe since it will be his baby sister, he’ll be more okay with it.  I hope!

I’m sure I’ll share more about how the transition is going in his next update, since baby sister will be here by then!

Do your kids have quirky cute things they do like the double shoulder hug? Moms of 2+ kiddos, how did your older siblings do with the addition of a new baby?

Have a great weekend all!

I can’t wait to come here and see that you’ve had that baby girl! 🙂
It took Henry about 2-3 weeks to adjust to Clara. He would wake up at night with bad dreams and reverted a bit back to his baby days. Overall though, that period was so short – I’ve blocked it. I’m sure Hunter will do just fine. And he’ll seem SO grown up when she arrives.

Ya I was thinking it would take him a few weeks. Glad to hear it was that way with Henry. I bet she’ll seem so itty bitty and he’ll look instantly like a big kid when they’re next to each other.
