hunter's nursery: stage 2 + stage 1 update

by Heather

This morning Joe and I ventured out for another walk!  I thought yesterday’s walk was cold at 39 degrees…. but today’s 37 was mighty chilly.  Brrrr can’t wait to walk in the 40s!

My goal is to walk him every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday morning.  Maybe one of these mornings Jacob will join us too!  That’d be nice… if he can get up.

Moving onto the nursery!

I’m so-so-so happy to report back that stage one of Hunter’s nursery is going well!

Here’s an update on the main projects:

Mural

We picked out the paint colors a couple weekends ago and Jacob finished drawing the mural. He’s been painting a bit too and hoping to finish it soon. The plan is to have a small tree on the wall opposite the big mural, but I’m fine either way if it happens or not.

These pictures were taken right when I got home yesterday and even more progress has been made!  A tree is now growing and the mama owl is painted too!

The hole

Look it’s gone! Wednesday it gets textured then my mom can come over and paint the entire wall. Some fresh paint is going to be nice on there.

Once stage one is all done we’ll start on stage two – filling the nursery.

There isn’t going to be too much adding to the nursery, since space is limited, but I thought it would be fun to show what we plan to put in there.

Crib

Every nursery needs a crib. Jacob’s parents got our crib for us, so once all the painting is done I’m excited to get it set up in there.

What’s great is that it will grow with the baby too. Although we’ll likely need it for another baby down the road, it’s nice to have the option for it to convert to a toddler bed.

Glider

We tried out a few gliders at babies r us and picked this one out. It’s a glider-recliner combo and comes with the gliding foot rest too. My parents are getting this for us, which we are so excited about!!

Changing table

I know a dedicated changing table isn’t always a necessity, but since the dresser in there is tall it can’t really be used as a changing table.

I love the look with baskets too. No need to worry about finding a place for dirty laundry since it’s built in!

Night stand

This will go next to the glider. I like this one from ikea, but I’m open to other options. My favorite part of it is the curved design, which mimics the crib and changing table. But, now that I’m looking at it again it’s grey… and I want one that’s black.  Hmmmm I guess we could paint it but I’m going to keep looking.

Lamp

Okay this isn’t furniture, but it’ll go on the night stand. We just fell in love with it! I ordered it this weekend and was glad to see it was on sale too, although still pricy. So worth it though, it’s such a cute owl!

Stage two isn’t too labor intensive, but once we get a moving on the bigger items, I’ll share the next stage – decorating!! That’s going to be a fun one.

How’s your Tuesday going?  Have you seen any awesome owl decor around?

Hunter is one lucky baby. Can’t wait to see the finished product!

Love the owl theme!! We are undergoing nursery operations as well 🙂 We are going with ladybugs as our theme but i didn’t find anything i liked with sets out there so i’ve been doing it all myself. With the colors being Red & Black (of course) and accenting in zebra print for our baby girl! So much fun! Just wait til you get it all done you’ll be so proud you’ll just want to sit in their for hours lol
