{Thank you all for your kind words on yesterday’s Hood to Coast recap, it sure was a blast and I’m glad I got to share it!}

I’m always interested in what other people do before heading out the door to work.  Probably because I like to cram as much into mine as possible.  My curious nature wants to peek in their window and watch, like it’s a movie. Peanut butter chocolate popcorn and all. Creepy right?

Well, I’m sure I’m not the only one out there who is creepy interested in other lives, so today I’m going to shed a glimpse into my own morning routine. This is a normal morning where I don’t have a 5:30am Pump It class to get to.  Those mornings are very different, oh so very different.

Here’s where it all begins…

4:30 – 4:45am alarm goes off

4:35 – 5:00am I get up out of bed (depending on how many times I snooze… at least once is required for me) and head upstairs with the animals

5:00 – 6:00am drink coffee, write blog post, reply to emails, read/comment on other blogs

6:00 – 6:45am workout (could be a run, yoga, workout DVD, bodyrock workout, walk or home circuit) OR on a rest day I’d probably walk the dog + take my time making a breakfast like waffles

6:45 – 7:05am shower and pick out clothes for the day while putting on sweatpants + tank top to be comfy the rest of the morning

7:05 – 7:35am feed the animals, make breakfast and lunch + snacks for both Jacob and I for the day… Eat breakfast and try to take care of the dishes I made that morning (at least I try right?)

7:35am realize I have to leave in 10 minutes and think to myself “Crap I have to leave in 10 minutes, how am I always running late?!”

7:35 – 7:45am finish getting my food + random things for the day in my bag, realize I’ve been neglecting my eyebrows for way to long and give them a minute of my attention, try to half blow dry my hair and do something with it, change into actual clothes, brush my teeth, fill my water bottle and rush out the door at least by 7:50am, slapping some mascara on at the stop lights and landing to work at 8:00am on.the.dot

Phew just reading those last 10-15 minutes makes me feel rushed!  It’s crazy that I seem to do the most in the least amount of time… am I a procrastinator or what?

A few notes…

  • I wrote most of this out yesterday which totally got me thinking ahead of time for this morning.  My breakfast is all prepped, some snacks are prepped and my eyebrows are taken care of
  • I’m trying (the key word here) to take care of more cleaning in the mornings too.  Yesterday I scrubbed the shower for a minute while I was finishing up, today I hope to wipe down the mirror or pick up my desk a bit.  They aren’t really part of ‘the plan’ but just random things thrown in
  • I waste a lot of time changing into sweats then back out.  Should definitely try to pick out my clothes the night before and just change into them
  • I should really do a lot more the night before… like prepping lunch – that would be so helpful
  • I like to get a lot done in the morning, is it crazy that I get up that early?  I love it and you can still tell me I’m crazy

What’s your morning routine like? Give me a glimpse and I won’t be creepy. Smile with tongue out

I love it! I try to cram as much in as possible too!!

Days I work at the hospital…4:40 wakeup, gym by 5 or so, arrive home around 6:05 then it’s get bkfast ready, review blogs while sipping (or slurping coffee :), 6:45 ish-7ish debate whether I should get in the shower or read the next blog..usually read a bit more 🙂 by 7 it’s shower, throw on scrubs, makeup, quickly eat breakfast (lately a green smoothie) and out the door around 7:30 to get to work by 8 on.the. like you! 🙂

My goal this week however is to make my breakfast the night before…it’s an old habit but I got out of the routine. works much better to fit it in at night for saving time in the AM!

Our mornings sound very similar! Good luck with prepping your breakfast the night before, I’m planning to do that too. It’s on my to do list for tonight! What will you be prepping?

wow! You do cram a lot in to your mornings! If I work out, I wake at 5:30, work out til 6:30, shower, eat, and out the door by 7:15am for work! If I don’t work out…Up at 6:30, lay in bed til 6:45, get ready for work, breakfast, out the door by 7:!5am

Wow you’re so speedy getting ready in the mornings!

My new morning routine started today. Although it was pretty similar beforehand, the family I nanny for has a new school/work schedule. So now, the alarm rings (actually it drum) at 530 and I’m
off to the gym & I shower there. Eating breakfast with 2 sweet boys makes the sometimes tough am workouts worth it!

    1. Get Healthy with Heather says:

I bet it does make it worth it! Doesn’t it feel great to knock a tough workout in first thing?!

  4. Sarah says:

Wow I am impressed… I wish I could be wayyy more productive in the mornings, but I am def not a morning person…glad to know I’m not the only one doing makeup at stop lights 🙂
What time do you go to bed that you are able to get up that early??

    1. Get Healthy with Heather says:

I try to be in bed + asleep by 9-9:15, but lately I haven’t been sleeping very well and finally falling asleep around 10 or 10:30… Definitely pushing the snooze more often on those mornings!

  5. Kristin @ eat healthy. be happy. live well says:

Wow! I wish I only had to leave my house 15 minutes before work! I have to leave around 7:10am to get to work, so I get up at 5am usually. My workouts have become few and far between in the mornings because I have to let out and feed the dog. I typically make breakfast and pack lunches and try to read a few blogs as well.

I also try to do dishes…but I pretty much fail every time! It’s just not the top priority before I leave!

I have found that when I’ve packed up leftovers the night before, making lunches goes much quicker! I need to try to do that every day 🙂

And, I think you’re only a little crazy for getting up that early, but you sure are productive!!!

I try to cram in as much as possible too! I am eager to see how my schedule works out once I go back to work

    1. Get Healthy with Heather says:

How long do you get off?

  7. Jessica @ Sushi and Sit-Ups says:

My mornings are so lame compared to yours! I wake up at 6, drink coffee and pack/make lunches for the day. At 6:25-ish I get dressed and sip on my coffee while catching up on blogs and the news. Around 6:40 I’ll start brushing my teeth, doing my hair, putting on make-up, and I’m out the door for work around 7:20. When I lay it out like that, it seems like I have all the time in the world, but I’m always feeling rushed!

    1. Get Healthy with Heather says:

Why is it that mornings always feel so rushed?! Craziness. Sounds like a nice morning!

  8. Heather (Where's the Beach) says:

Holy moly you get up early. I am not really a morning person at all so I’m up a whopping 30 mins before work. I have it down to a science. I also live 5 minutes from work (hitting all red lights).

    1. Get Healthy with Heather says:

Now a 5 minute drive to work would be nice.

  9. Lauren @ What Lauren Likes says:

WOAH! you are a tank girl. ( In a really good way! haha). For me right now I get up around 7:30 ish, blog during breakfast, then bike to work 🙂

    1. Get Healthy with Heather says:

So cool that you bike to work. I need to do that more often!

  10. Nicole, RD says:

You’re up for over 3 hours before you leave for work!? You’re a stronger woman than I! Even if I workout, it’s 2 hours…and I get up at 6. I just can’t imagine getting up THAT early. But I should, because I FAR more productive in the morning hours than the evening.

    1. Get Healthy with Heather says:

I know I’m crazy, but I just can’t be very productive in the evening… probably because I get up so early lol
