Don’t ask me why we thought we could tackle the entire upstairs in just 2 days. If you’re catching up from yesterday’s post you know we started installing hardwood floors.

Here’s the progress we’ve made:

What started as just a few rows in the office, is now completely done!

You can’t really see the progress in there because now our entire living room + all the office stuff is back in there.

Carpet has been lifted up and we just have to do a little more prepping before we start laying this morning.

Our first room took about 6 hours to finish. That included a lot of hand nailing by Jacob.

There’s this tool called a blind nailer that makes the job soooooo much faster. Me being the money saver that I am went looking on Craigslist and found one brand spanking new for $50. To rent it for 2 days would have cost us $70! I was pretty proud of that find.

Jacob borrowed some other tools from family that are definitely needed. A table saw, which he uses.

And a miter saw, which we both use.

My jobs so far have been:

1) For the first few hours stay out of the way. And stay out of the way I did. I made cereal, cleaned both bathrooms, washed the sheets and made the bed, folded and put away 2 loads of laundry and did dishes. I was mighty productive.

2) After Jacob got the hang of installing our laminate flooring and a rhythm in place, he took my help. I used the miter saw to cut the pieces, pulled up staples that had held the padding under the carpet in, cleaned up the messes, sorted the pieces of wood whenever we opened a new box, broke down the boxes and loaded them into the jeep, and helped move everything along with Jacob once we needed to clear out the room.

Oh I fed us too, a very important job.

Loaded nachos last night.

And waffles this morning!

I went with my favorite recipe for ‘the best’ whole grain cottage cheese waffles. They never disappoint and they’re super easy to make.

Topped with one of my favorites, apple sauce. Easy and delish!

Alright, off to wake up the man and get started on a long (but fun!) day of working. We will definitely both (but really Jacob, his back has to be hurting) deserve massages after this is all done.

On to day 2, wish us luck!

You are a good woman. When we renovated our house, it was before we moved in and I am so so thankful for that. Reno would have driven me crazy if I was living there!!!
