Procrastination… good or bad?

by Heather

I have come to the realization that procrastination doesn’t always work for me.  It’s true, usually I procrastinate, especially if it’s something I don’t want to do, but then only to knock it out with a bang in the end.

Here’s when procrastination works great…

  • in school with a project
  • studying for a test
  • anything related to laundry
  • picking up the house
  • figuring out a workout plan

Then there are times it doesn’t work so well for me…

  • getting the exercise in
  • prepping meals
  • reviewing products I receive

I’ve found that I just *have* to exercise in the morning.  If it isn’t going to be in the morning, I tend to need an external factor to push me into it.  What do I mean by external factor?  My mom joining me for our lunch time sit ups, the running club event + mama picking me up for an evening run (but still that doesn’t always work) or having a class waiting for me to teach.

If it were up to me I’d just exercise in the morning.  It’s my time of choice and once it’s finished, there’s no workout lingering over my head the rest of the day.  Plus I get this amazing energy from it that keeps me going all day long.

Since I know my procrastinating self, I knocked out sit ups first thing this morning.  Like wake up, walk upstairs and do my sit ups.  I was still half asleep and surprised myself by not fall back asleep during the rest, but I did it!

DAY 3
REST 60 SECONDS BETWEEN EACH SET (LONGER IF REQUIRED)

SET 1:  17
SET 2:  22
SET 3:  14
SET 4:  14
SET 5:  max (at least 20)

Finished my max with 30.

Once I finish my coffee, chug some water and change it’s time for a quick morning run.  I’ll even take this guy along.  He’s just too cute.

Are you a procrastinator?  Does it work well for you?  How are your sit ups going?

Come on back later today because 1) I was not my procrastinating self and have a review 2) will share this amazing PB Trail Mix Brownie recipe and 3) there is a giveaway involved!

Love the argyle dog leash! So cute! I can’t stand procrastinating. I need to get everything I have to get done as soon as possible or I go crazy. My boyfriend, on the other hand, lives by the motto “if you wait until the last minute, it only takes a minute.” Drives me crazy sometimes!

He is SO cute!!! This post makes me sorry I don’t push harder to get morning workouts in. I guess I’ll continue rolling that idea around and maybe take the plunge. It was my plan this summer to switch to mornings, but with the heat, I just opted for indoors after work.

It’s hard to make the switch, but so worth it!

Yumm, brownies 🙂

I would love to exercise in the morning, but my ideal morning time is about 8am, when I am at work! So most days it happens after work, and as long as I do it right after work I am fine, but I cannot try ti push it any later than that!

I do tend to procrastinate !

I procrastinate on all the little things—for example, a basket full of clean, folded laundry will sit in my room until I’ve used all of the clean clothes. So weird!

I’m a total procrastinator! I like to look at it from a positive angle, such as “I work better under pressure!” 🙂 I tried to do my sit ups first thing in the morning and it made me want to toss my cookies! Back to evenings for me 😉

I found them much easier in the evening too.

If procrastinating was a paying career, I’d be a millionaire.

Seriously, can we make it one?

I agree, procrastination does NOT work for me when it comes to working out. Projects at work, yep. Reviewing my new staff’s work, yep. Cooking dinner? yep, even then. But if I don’t workout before work, I can think of 1.5 billion reasons not to work out after work!

I couldn’t agree more with all of those statements!
