Monday was a day filled with firsts.
It was the first day of doubles training for Hood to Coast, which is officially 10 days away. Yikes!
First run: 2.3 miles with Joe at 6 am. 20 minutes making it 8:41 per mile.
Light and easy run with a slight chill in the air. Morning runs are my favorite.
Second run: 4.15 miles on my lunch break at noon. 33:30 minutes making it 8:04 per mile.
I definably pushed it here a bit more. Had my music going which was awesome but was in the HEAT. Used the MapMyRun app on my phone then easily uploaded to facebook… very cool feature!
I hope to get a longer day of doubles in this weekend or later this week, maybe a 4 and 6 miler to see how my pace goes. I should be around 8:20 per mile for Hood to Coast, which is right in the middle of my times yesterday.
Monday was also the first day of being a certified group fitness instructor!
I checked the mail and to my surprise it was there! You don’t get a score on the practical exam pieces, it’s just pass or fail, but I was glad to know I only missed 3 out of the 100 questions on the written test.
Since I’m now certified, this means I will start teaching Sports Training in September at the YMCA. I auditioned a little while back and just needed to get this in the mail to be sure I could teach there. Weeeeee I’m so excited.
Yesterday was the first day of my new yogurt love.
And at that price how could it not be my newest love?
I picked up a carton of Brown Cow plain cream top while grocery shopping over the weekend and was blown away by how creamy it is! I’ve been eating a bit more yogurt lately, which, if I keep it in small doses once a day doesn’t seem to upset my stomach.
Normally it’s not that cheap, but with just a few days before expiration I knew I’d finish it up. Don’t be scared of soon to expire foods, they can be steals!
My favorite way to enjoy plain yogurt is mixed with banana. Then topped with granola.
I prep it the night before for work. Slice up my banana, mix it a little more then pour out some granola.
The creamy banana sweetened yogurt with crunchy spent grain granola is such an easy snack and delicious treat.
It’s filled with carbs, fat and protein so it powers me through the day and keeps me full until lunch (or dinner if I have it in the afternoon).
Yes, that’s one of the new spent grain granolas… the 3 new flavors will be revealed tomorrow with a giveaway too!
Make sure to check out my Navitas Naturals giveaway (and the PB trail mix brownie!) to win super food power snacks. A winner will be selected Thursday, so hurry on over there.
Did you have any firsts yesterday? I’d love to hear!
Heather

Congrats on passing!! That’s so exciting!! I’m waiting for my results anxiously.
My favorite combination with yogurt is banana too! I wish my grocery store still carried my soy yogurt. 🙁 I love it so much! Congrats on your Certification! That must feel amazing to finally be able to hold that certificate in your hands that you’ve worked so hard for.
It really does feel amazing. It’s kinda crazy to think about when I started this whole thing and now where I am.
