Hi friends
It’s Friday! Seems like it was a long week huh? For me, oh yes. I’m excited for another weekend with not much planned. I’ll be trying out Zumba for my first time… we’ll see how that goes!
It was a great week in fitness. Quick breakdown: 2 rest days, 1 cycle class, 3.5 miles of easy running, 2x pump it classes (the second 1 to happen in a little bit), then zumba tomorrow. Pretty well rounded week. I even did a little foam rolling, but really need to do more.
Do you have a favorite exercise? How about a favorite push ups?
Push ups are awesome. Not only do they work your chest, they strengthen your triceps, shoulders, core muscles and back. A very compound movement.
PLUS they make you feel like an awesome workout beast.
Another reason to love push ups?
The millions of variations out there. You can never get bored with them!
Top 10 Favorite Push Ups
1. Spider man push ups (regular pushup, but with each rep bring a knee to your elbow, alternating sides)
2. Tricep push ups (arms very close to the body with elbows tucked in)
3. In and Out push ups (start in regular hand stance, widen your right arm out to the side, do a push up, bring that right arm back in, and take the left arm out to the side, do a push up)
4. Diamond push ups (pictured above)
5. Staggered hand push ups (pictured below)
6. Wide push up into side plank (do a wide handed push ups, go into a side plank, back to push up, then side plank on the other side)
7. Clap push ups (pictured above)
8. Push ups with 1 hand on a medicine ball
9. Decline push ups (feet on stability ball or other object higher than you)
10. Regular push ups with alternating leg lifts
I hope you’ll add one or two of these to your workout routine. Variation is key with exercise!
What’s your favorite push up?
Last chance to enter to win some coffee! I’ll pick the winner when I get home from work.

i love the first set of pushups because ive never seen ones like those before! gonna go test them out 🙂
xoxo <3
Do it and report back!
wow, look at those ripped arms!! I didn’t know there were that many push-up varieties either. I am terrible at push-ups and lack upper body strength and do the girlie version lol
Hey long time no *see*! Girlie push ups are still push ups… you gotta start somewhere, ya know? Plus I love throwing in a good girlie push ups too. Hope you are doing well!
Pushups are the best! I think my favorite is a tie between the Spiderman and the Diamond. There’s an even crazier variation of the Spiderman one that I found on Bodyrock.tv last night where you do a toe touch with your opposite hand the leg that’s going up toward your elbow. It’s nuts!
Now THAT sounds like an awesome move! You should send me the link to it :). I love a new tough push up to try!
i love the tricep push ups and divebomber pushups. OUCH! hurt so good! LIke felicia said!
Hurts so so good 😉
diver bombers and reptile push ups are my favorite!
oh divebombers for sure!!!
Dive bombers… Yes I forgot about those. Love em!
I love pushups — I feel so strong doing them. Right now I’m just working on doing regular pushups with good form — I tend to round out my back after doing 8-10 pushups. I want to be able to do more than that!
Keep working at it, you’ll get there girl 🙂
Thanks for sharing these! I think my favorite push ups are Tricep Push ups. When I first started doing them i felt so weak, but I can tell now when I do them that I have gotten stronger!
Yay for getting stronger!
In and outs! So awesome 🙂 Have a great weekend
Tricep pushups are my enemy!!! But the number one pushup I need to work on. I would say good old fashioned (no knees down) are my favorite. I love pushing myself to up the number each time and focus on form.
So glad you focus on form… Form is key!
Wow! I didn’t know there were so many types of push ups…. 🙂
And there are so many more!
