Remember how I started going to water aerobics while I was pregnant and loved every single itty bitty minute of it?
Well yesterday I went into the water for the first time since giving birth. Loved-it-again! But this time for a different reason.
I taught the class!
Yup this girl.
Before teaching I had to get the necessities out of the way… finding a new suit of course. A bikini just didn’t seem appropriate, but finding a one piece that I liked was a challenge, so a 2 piece tankini it was.
Once I had the suit I was set to teach. Necessities right? 😉 I had my workout and music all planned out for the class I was subbing.
Once there I got the noodles and water dumbbells all set out for class and was ready to go.
You might be thinking to your self… how hard can water aerobics be? It is lower impact (which means just about anyone can join in – yay more fun!), but that does not mean less of a workout.
Have you thought about doing intervals in the water? You should. We did them. Try running against water, it’s more challenging than you’d think!
Want to get your lift on? Try resisting the dumbbells from floating up after you press them under water. Holy shoulders and arms.
Jumping jacks, cross country skiing, bowling, twisting, kicking, punching, hopping… oh there is so much you can do to really get the heart pumping!
I’m so glad I discovered teaching water aerobics and brought back my love for being in the water. It’s going to be a nice addition to all the higher impact classes I teach + a totally different group of folks to meet. I love how they are there to keep themselves healthy and active and loving their workout.
Plus it didn’t hurt that they had sweet works to say after class, liked the workout and are they’re looking forward to me coming back next week to teach their class. They want more torture… even in the water you can torture… and who doesn’t like torture? 😉
