I always thought I’d be into really girly clothes if/when I had a girl, but it seems the instant I got pregnant, and knew we were having a girl, that changed. Now I’m all anti-pink and purple or anything super girly. Neutrals without much going on (like flowers and bubblegum) totally draw me in. I like the idea of having a simple outfit with one thing special to stand out.
Pinterest is such a fun site to get lost in. I pretty much do it daily. I have a board of little girl clothes that’s been inspiring how I want to dress our little girl. I’m under no illusion that she’s going to be dressed all cute, all the time, but I’m hoping to throw lots of different pieces into her wardrobe that capture some of these elements. And I also think I’ll begin bettering my sewing skills as I find fabric that I love and turn it into something for her to wear.
Here are some of the things I’ve been pinning…
Fun leggings
If you’ve seen our house, you know we love grey, black and white… which maybe is also why I like that for clothes.
Neato arrow prints.
Leggings WITH owls?! Whoooooooo wouldn’t want that?
Mustard… I love
Cozy sweaters and cardigans
And leg warmers. 🙂
Muted colors
Dresses
Of course, the dress I made I love. Birds and mustard.
Unique prints
Just plain fun and cute
I don’t hate all pink
… see pink!
I totally wish I could redo my own wardrobe and dress myself like this… but it’s much cheaper and easier to buy/make itty bitty clothes, so I’ll have to slowly morph my closet as I create hers too. Although, I’m sure many of these clothes I pinned come at a pretty penny, so making might be my best bet. We shall see!
Oh and before I forget, the winner for the pie cookbook giveaway is #8!

Happy weekend!
What do you love for baby girl clothes? At what age do kids start deciding they want to dress themselves, instead of letting you dress them?
Heather

So many amazing clothes i don’t think I can pick a favorite. I love all the prints on those leggings especially the cat print( perfect for halloween). And those sweaters, wow do they look comfy.
Love your lil lady’s style! We are having a boy and find myself sleuthing for neutral clothing too. If I could dress him in mustard, grey and white I would be tickled.
Mustard and grey… my favorite 🙂
Hi Heather! I love these outfits. You have really beautiful taste. What a lucky girl! We’re having a boy – I think I’m close to you, I’m due in mid-March – and I’ve become anti-blue and all the typical boy stuff (sports, cars/trucks, dinosaurs). In an effort to avoid being bombarded with boy stuff, we tried keeping the sex a secret, but it didn’t last long. Once you know what it is, you can’t call it an “it” anymore! Anyway, I love yellow, green, and grey, and I prefer patterns over pictures. But I know we will get clothing gifts that are not in line with how we want to dress our little boy. My mom has already gotten an outfit that is a bit much. I’m wondering if this happened to you with Hunter and, if so, how did you handle it? I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings, but I also don’t want to dress my poor child like a schmuck! 😉
With Hunter I didn’t feel as picky, and I feel like boys clothes are not as over the top as girls clothes are so maybe that’s why I was more mellow about it. I happily accepted any clothes gifted to me, but when going through everything we received, I did return some items just because we had so much, so the clothes I wasn’t the biggest fan of just got exchanged for something else I needed. Of course, I wouldn’t tell the person I took their gift back, but I think what they’d really want is for you to have something you need or love, so in my mind it all worked out in the end. But if you get things you really don’t like, keep the tags on! A lot of stores will let you return them for store credit (I’ve found) if it was purchased there and you don’t have the receipt. You’re one month behind me, so exciting!
