After our super fun camping trip, vacation mode continued with a weekend at the lake house with my family.  It was a farewell party for my little brother Trevor who’ll be deployed with the air force to Afghanistan in July.

In my family, we like to cook.  We like to compete.  We like to play games.  Why not combine all of those together?  I think this was by far one of the favorite food competitions: the first annual Libby family pie making competition.

Each lady in the family made a pie, which was then judged by Trevor and the other guys.

We had nutella cream pie made by yours truly…

and lastly mixed berry pie made by Natalie… which turned out to be not made by Natalie since she bought it.

Competition was fierce.

Not only were we being judged on how the pie tasted, appearance, crust, ingredients and how much you would actually pay for a slice were categories too.  The guys sampled + judged, then the points were added up.

Trevor announced which pies won each of the categories and the overall winner.

So which pie reigned supreme?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Arlene’s french chocolate silk pie!  The crust was amazing made withe pecans.  It was one of my favorites too.

My nutella cream pie got 3rd place (or 2nd… I can’t remember, I think 3rd).  The ice cream pie came in 2nd, which means the fruit pies were on the bottom half of the ranking.  Those boys like their chocolate and ice cream!

It was such a fun and delicious competition.  We will definitely be making this an annual (or maybe semi-annual :)) competition.

Pictures of pies are awesome, but this one is one of my favorites from the weekend.  Hunter’s growing up too fast.

It was such a fun weekend.  Always nice getting to spend time with family, plus I got to meet my newest niece Abigail for the first time too!

Which pie do you think would have been your favorite?  Does your family do any food competitions?   Want me to share my nutella cream pie recipe?

Oh gosh, they all sound incredible! I think the peanut butter ice cream, your nutella one, and the strawberry rhubarb would be my top faves, but I don’t think I could say “no” to any of them. 😉
