My green taco sauce is creamy, tangy, and has just the right amount of spicy. It’s made with fresh jalapeño, Anaheim pepper, Greek yogurt, lime, and cilantro for a vibrant flavor you’ll want to drizzle on everything. I love it on tacos, as a taquito dip, drizzled on bowls, and over chicken and fish. Best of all? It takes less than 10 minutes to make in your own kitchen—no taco truck required.

How To Make The Ultimate Green Taco Sauce Recipe

The next time you’re making my chicken taco bowls, don’t skip this green taco truck sauce.

It will quickly become your go-to condiment—not just for tacos, but for just about everything you eat. It’s the secret ingredient that takes taco night from good to unforgettable!

You can totally customize the heat, too. If it’s for my hubby and me, I’ll use more fresh jalapenos to up the heat. If I’m making the green creamy sauce for a family dinner, I tune the heat level down and make it a milder sauce.

You can customize it to your family’s liking – that’s the beauty of homemade versus a sauce from your favorite taco trucks!

Why you’ll love this delicious sauce

Creamy yet light – The Greek yogurt gives a silky texture without making it heavy. It adds a nice tang that pairs perfectly with the spiciness.

Perfect for taco night – The best tacos need the ultimate sauce recipe like this one. It works on chicken, beef, pork, fish tacos, veggie tacos, or carne asada tacos. Try it on burrito bowls, grilled veggies, or even as a dip for tortilla chips.

Customizable spice level – Use milder peppers or add serranos for extra heat.

Step 1:  Remove stems and seeds (for less heat) or keep some seeds for spice. Add all ingredients to a high-powered blender or food processor.

Step 2:  If too thick, add a splash of water or more lime juice until smooth. Taste and adjust by adding extra salt, more lime, or another jalapeño, depending on your spice preference.

Serving suggestion

  • Drizzle over hawaiian chicken tacos or fish tacos for a taco truck–style finish.
  • Use as a dip for tortilla chips—like a creamy salsa verde.
  • Add to chicken taco bowls or sheet pan roasted veggies for an instant flavor boost.
  • Spoon into a squeeze bottle for easy drizzling during taco nights.

How to store leftovers

Any leftover sauce can be added to an airtight container or a mason jar. It will stay fresh in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

For best texture, give it a quick stir before serving—ingredients can separate naturally.
