As I sit here this morning with my peanut butter swirled banana custard oats and think about the weekend, I’m sad to see that it’s gone.  Weekends really are the best.  I get so much time with the hubs.  We walked the dog twice, worked on the nursery (which is almost done!!), ran errands together, went on a date at the movies (haven’t gone and see a movie together in…. a year???), relaxed and just enjoyed our time together.

I can spend my mornings slowly waking up with my daily readings and time with God.  That really gets my day started out right.  My third and final shower was yesterday, which I have lots of pictures to share from.  There was just so much good stuff, it’s tough to see it end….

So I won’t let it end!  Today it’s supposed to get up to 80 degrees (in Washington.. whhhaaattt????), which means Joe will be a happy dog when I get home from work and walk him, with the hubs hopefully too since he finishes work a bit earlier in the day now.  I have 2 loads of baby clothes/cloth diapers to fold — this is the only laundry I enjoy folding.  We’re picking up a new to us, but used pack n play tonight and also getting our stroller/car seat.  Lots of fun baby stuff to look forward to.

My weekend also included trying a new recipe.  As part of the TLC Book Tour I was sent a copy of FoodTrients by Grace O to read through.

My first thoughts on the book — beautiful pictures of every recipe, which I absolutely love in a cookbook, unique recipes with some ingredients I had never heard of (moringa anyone?) and an awesome concept for a book — using age defying ingredients that support both our insides and out for a healthy body.  Love.

Every recipes tells you which FoodTrient property it contains: anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, disease-preventing, immunity booster and/or mind and beauty and also what the FoodTrient is (isoflavones, Omega-3s, zinc… etc).

Educational and delicious.

Yup, super delicious.  I tried the green tea noodles with edamame, which has you cook your noodles in green tea – loved it.  The tangy ginger dressing really set it over the top, which I was happy about since ginger is typically not a favorite of mine.  Worked perfectly here.

We had out noodles with some chicken sausage and asparagus.  A super simple meal, and very summery too.  While we ate the noodles warm, I bet they’d be just as tasty cooled.

Want to win your own copy of FoodTrients?  (Yes you do!)

One lucky reader will receive a copy of FoodTrients and a FoodTrients apron.

You guys, I didn’t get an apron, so this is pretty cool.
