Awww I’m so glad it’s Friday! It’s been a long week, as I mentioned on Wednesday, but we made it. 🙂
While the work week was long, the week of pregnancy just flew by! Today we’ve switched from the bright yellow lemon to the plump and round orange!
How’s baby growing?
Your growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 ½ ounces. She’s busy moving amniotic fluid through her nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in her lungs begin to develop. Her legs are growing longer than her arms now, and she can move all of her joints and limbs. Although her eyelids are still fused shut, she can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, she’s likely to move away from the beam. There’s not much for your baby to taste at this point, but she is forming taste buds. Finally, if you have an ultrasound this week, you may be able to find out whether your baby’s a boy or a girl! (Don’t be too disappointed if it remains a mystery, though. Nailing down your baby’s sex depends on the clarity of the picture and on your baby’s position. He or she may be modestly curled up or turned in such a way as to “hide the goods.”) — from babycenter
With each of these new fruits I put it up next to my stomach and think, is there really a baby the size of that in there? I guess I just think my belly would pop out more if there was an orange in there.
How am I feeling?
Great! While I do feel mentally exhausted when I get home from work, that was a pre-pregnancy thing too. It’s amazing how making it to the second trimester really brought all my energy back.
I do have to admit I’ve been a tad bit more stressed than I’d like lately. Not about the baby though, just work stuff and feeling like I have a lot to do in so little time. Glad we still have 5 more months before baby will get here so there’s no stress about getting ready for him/her yet.
We had our 15 week check up last Friday. Compared to the week 11’s appointment, our first one with the mid-wifes, it was much quicker. No tears this time though. :). After going over some questions we got to hear the heart beat! After that we scheduled our next appointment which will include another ultrasound. The big find-out-the-sex-ultrasound. January 6th cannot get here fast enough!
How I’m moving
Yesterday I totally should have started day 1 of the keep your core strong workout. Ummm I just plain forgot until I got into bed…. whoops! No worries though, either tonight or first thing Saturday morning it will happen. I’ll be sure to report back how it goes.
And to get a better picture of my weekly workouts, here’s what I did the past week:
(last)Friday: went to morning pump it ~ full body strength training (60 mins)
Saturday: rest day, walked for 25 mins
Sunday: ran 30 minutes
Monday: taught an impromptu 30 minute circuit class
Tuesday: rest day
Wednesday: went to morning pump it ~ full body strength training (60 mins) + taught body pump (60 mins)
Thursday: taught cycle (50 mins)
I feel amazing after working out. It’s such an energy boost! The only time I do feel a bit tired is after running. I took a short nap after I finished running on Sunday, but maybe I was just sleepy?
What I’m eating
Sweets! They really are an every day thing now. If it’s not cookies or cake (homemade by me of course cause I don’t like my sweets too sweet!), it’s a handful of chocolate chips or chocolate mug cake. I’ve got a sweet tooth that just won’t quit. Not that I’m really fighting it. 😉 Sweet are delicious, and tend to just be once a day.
Other than sweets, I’ve been eating lots of egg (like always), tacos, quiche, tuna sandwiches, fruit – loving pears lately, cucumbers, overnight oats as my afternoon snack and peanut butter. All Heather approved foods :).
I even made pot stickers (with Jacobs help too!) filled with yellow split peas over the weekend. We really liked those, plus I froze the extras for another time. Jacob suggested I add cheese in them next time. Of course he wanted cheese, that boy is obsessed with it!
The only thing that really sounds gross to me is yogurt. I have no clue why bit it makes me want to gag. Weird.
