How’s baby growing

How I’m feeling
This week a lotta things… happy, sad and impatient.
Happy because it’s almost Christmas and I can’t wait to see if we get any gifts for our little one. I’m really excited for the extra day off and time with Jacob. Also, I’ve started to feel the baby move! For a couple weeks now I’ve been feeling ‘stuff’, but I didn’t know if it was just my muscles or stomach, but I can tell when I get little kicks now. Not sure how many I get a day but I’m hoping they just keep increasing.
Sad because my emotions are crazy. The first half of the week I was fighting tears and I think I may have figured out the culprit, other than my hormones. From Saturday through Tuesday my workouts are easy and either hit or miss. Come Wednesday through Friday they’re more intense, I break a sweat, and feel like I actually work. I think after a few days of easy workouts or no workouts, my body begins to need some extra movement. Once I hit up the Wednesday morning workout I feel much better and like myself again. And now I don’t feel like I need to cry!
Impatient because we still have to wait 2 more weeks and 1 day, not that I’m counting or anything, before we find out the baby’s sex. I’ve been really good about not buying stuff for boys or girls, at least until Tuesday night I was good about it. I’ll share what I picked up after Christmas. There may be a combo Jacob/baby gift under the tree this year. And by may I mean there will be. 🙂 We both have this feeling it’ll be a boy, so my gift definitely is leaning towards boy. I made sure to keep the receipt!
What’s my body doing
After getting a big stash of maternity clothes over the weekend, I’ve been enjoying wearing them. I notice with a lot of my regular shirts (like the one I’m wearing here) I have to pull then down as they tighten up a bit more. It’s like they’re shrinking. The longer the shirt, the better!
I’ve been pretty ichy lately, but only a bit on my stomach. It could just have something to do with the cool weather, but I’m trying to lotion up a lot more. My hands especially have been very dry which is kinda unusual for me.
What I’m eating
I’m happy to report my crazy every day sweets has decreased dramatically. I’ve added more veggies and salads, but still have a little piece of dark chocolate every day. If I crave chocolate at night, I’ve been trying out just eating raisins. That totally works for me. They’re little, take a while to eat and are sweet little goodies!
One sandwich I have been in love with this week is mashed avocado, mozzarella and greens. I put it all together on some Dave’s killer bread and there’s my morning snack. I may start adding an egg in with it if I want some extra protein. But seriously, the avocado + mozzarella combo tastes amazing.
This week our meals have been pretty easy. I made a big batch of spaghetti and protein packed mac n cheese as our main meals. Reheating leftover with either salad on the side, kale chips or steamed broccoli have made my evenings so much easier and relaxed.
How I’m moving
I didn’t teach as much this week, which means I didn’t workout as my either compared to last week.
Here’s how it looked:
Saturday – rest day
Sunday – walked the dog 35 mins to return redbox movie rental (an extra day late, whoops!)
Monday – walked at lunch 30 minutes, then 15 minutes during afternoon break
Tuesday – walked the dog 25 minutes in the morning
Wednesday – full body strength training (60 mins) + taught body pump (60 mins)
Thursday – will teach cycle tonight (60 mins)
Friday – will go to full body strength training in the morning (60 mins)
I have only done my keep your strong workout twice, and my goal was 3x a week.
I need to add some type of more intense exercise either Sunday or Monday, which should help keep my blues away.
I haven’t run in about 2 weeks now. Not sure when I will. When I walked on Monday during lunch I forgot to change my shoes so I suffered in my flats. My feet, heels especially, have been killing me ever since. Like I feel them just walking. Maybe I bruised my heels walking in the cold on concrete? I’ll play it by ear and see if I end up running this weekend. I really want to even if it’s just 2-3 miles (if my bladder can handle that long!).
- How far along: 18 weeks, 1 day
- Total weight gained: 13 lb, no change from last week
- Number of nights I haven’t had to get up to pee: 4 ,they’ve been glorious!
- Favorite way to sleep: on my back, can’t do that much longer 🙁
- Count down till we find out the sex: 2 weeks + 1 day!
And a blooper just for the fun of it (Jacob tells me I look like a monkey) 🙂
