Hope your day is starting out great. Mine sure is with a big bowl of apple custard oats! Mmmmm so creamy.
Time for week 18s recap!
How’s baby growing?
Head to rump, your baby is about 5 1/2 inches long and he weighs almost 7 ounces. He’s busy flexing his arms and legs — movements that you’ll start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. His blood vessels are visible through his thin skin, and his ears are now in their final position, although they’re still standing out from his head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around his nerves, a process that will continue for a year after he’s born. If you’re having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If you’re having a boy, his genitals are noticeable now, but he may hide them from you during an ultrasound. — from babycenter
I think the fruits and vegetable comparisons will be going between length and overall size in a ball. This week was obviously length!
The baby, not me! Feeling those baby kicks has become an every day thing now. Usually when I settle onto the couch for the night after dinner is when I feel them the most. I think with all the movement throughout the day it’s hard for me to differentiate between just feeling ‘things’ with I’m not just relaxing. I totally know those baby kick feelings though!
And it’s so not flutters like I’ve read everywhere. For me it’s a combo of a tap + bubble. I can even place my hand where I’m feeling them and sorta feel it on the outside. I thought maybe it was just me because I know I’m feeling it on the inside, but I had Jacob feel and noticed it. He said he felt something, but wouldn’t have known it was a kick. Once this baby gets bigger those kicks will become more and more noticeable!
In just 5 days (the time between the pictures) the bump has really grown. Seriously, go look at week 17 and then come back and compare. I’ve also had a lot of my participants in my classes tell me that it’s beginning to pop, and I can totally tell too. I taught cycle Tuesday night and now know a workout top that I won’t really be able to wear anymore. It kept creeping up and I had to pull it down the entire time! This is starting to happen with a lot of my regular tops too. Length is definitely my best friend now!
Basically those words describe a lot of how I’m feeling. My emotions are at an all time high. I cry at the slightest things now. If I get even the tiniest little look from Jacob, or I’m rushed and things go out of plan, I cry. And I’m not just talking tiny little tears here, once the flood gates open up, you’ll need a dam to stop them. I’ve gone 2 days now without crying, which is a lot. Usually it’s an every day thing. Ahhhh pregnancy emotions, gotta love em right?
… are push ups! Time to talk fitness now. My week of workouts are going great. Here’s a quick run down:
Saturday – hour long walk with Jacob + Joe
Sunday – 15 minutes easy minutes on the recumbent bike, 15 minutes incline treadmill walking, 10 minutes practicing step moves
Monday – rest day
Tuesday – taught cycle (60 mins)
Wednesday – taught full body strength training (60 mins) + taught body pump (60 mins)
Thursday – will teach cycle tonight (60 mins)
Friday – will teach full body strength training in the morning (60 mins)
Nothing much out of the usual, just more teaching, but still no running. 🙁
So back to the hardest part of my workouts, which are push ups. At first I just thought I was getting a bit weaker since I’m not challenging myself like I used to, but then I remembered I’m pushing up 14+ pounds of extra weight. That makes a difference! Maintaining a straight back is a bit of a challenge with the belly pulling down toward the ground, so I usually start on my feet, then once my form gets a bit iffy, I’ll switch to my knees.
And because bloopers are funny (and my mom seems to take a couple of them each time), here’s another! I think I liked the monkey one more last week…
- How far along: 19 weeks, 1 day
- Total weight gained: 14-14.5 lb
- Number of days I’ve not eaten sweets this week: just 1, Tuesday
- Christmas get together’s remaining: 1 – this upcoming weekend!
- Count down til we find out the sex: 8 days!!!
- Things I need to do: put baby clothes away but take pictures to share first!
That’s all I’ve got to share today. A little shorter, but still the weekly baby growing adventure!
What would you make with that sweet potato?
