Week 25 was a pretty great one if you ask me. Well… at least for the most part. I’ve been lucky enough to not have many bad weeks, just random uncomfortable moments.
How’s Hunter growing?
Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. Her weight — a pound and a half — isn’t much more than an average rutabaga, but she’s beginning to exchange her long, lean look for some baby fat. As she does, her wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and she’ll start to look more and more like a newborn. She’s also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you’d now be able to discern its color and texture. — from babycenter
This week’s discomfort
Heart burn
Although it’s getting better, it’s still annoying. I got a recommendation to try papaya enzymes, which I have yet to pick up yet since whole foods is 25 minutes from my house. Yes, I am that lazy.
Sore muscles
This isn’t an un-typical Heather thing. Lifting weights will give you sore muscles, then I have Jacob massages them away. Sometimes I don’t even have to ask and he gives me a back/neck rub. Unfortunately he got a cut on his finger so now it’s bandaged up so massages are on hold… wonder if there’s really anything under than bandage? 😉
Uncomfortable in bed
All I want to do is sleep on my back, but I’m getting to that stage in my pregnancy where I shouldn’t spend too much time on my back. Until I’m in my 3rd trimester I’m fine with 5 minutes or so, but I try not to sleep all night long on my back. Although sometimes I wake up that way…
I’ve been sleeping on my side, which is fine, but sometimes my arm will fall asleep that I’m laying on, or I just can’t get comfortable. Tuesday night I had the worst sleep yet, being awake from 1-3am. I just couldn’t get comfortable.
Twitchy stomach
The next day after my bad night’s sleep I both felt like garbage all day and had a twitchy stomach all morning. You know when your eye twitches, and it doesn’t hurt it’s just something that’s happening and you can’t make it stop? Yeah, it was like that.
Any experience with that?
Peeing all the time
This is nothing new since it’s been my thing since the beginning. Hunter’s hanging out nice n low and loves to squish up against my bladder. I don’t mind it so much during the day, but at night once I do get comfy the last thing I want to do is get up out of my warm bed to pee.
The best things about being pregnant
Okay, it’s not all complaints here, no siree!
The kicks
I love feeling Hunter kick. Sometimes they’re big and only a few, sometimes they’re little and constant for a long time, but I feel them every day. I have even seen them too! Whenever I eat chocolate (which is basically every day), he kicks like crazy. I can usually count on lots of kicks in the evening when I finally settle down for the night. It’s great because Jacob is normally there so he gets to feel them too, although he gets impatient, moves his hand then the kicks come. I just rest my hands on my belly and enjoy them all. 🙂
Planning or Hunter
We have basically finished registering, at least I think so. It was a lot more challenging picking out items than I thought, there are so many options! I can’t wait until our house is filled with tons of baby stuff.
And like I shared yesterday, we’re working on getting the nursery ready too. I’d love for stage 1 to be done by the end of February, but it’s more likely to be finished by March (I hope!).
Day dreaming about Hunter
This week I would randomly day dream about what it will be like having our baby around. Nothing much in particular, just feeding, changing diapers, cuddling and playing with him, but every time I think about it I get so many warm fuzzies in my stomach and all sorts of happiness. I can’t wait for him to get here.
Favorite foods
Just like with last week I’ve been eating a lot more dairy. Yogurt is an every day thing. My absolute favorite combo is 1/2 ripe mashed banana + 1 cup plain yogurt (greek or regular, which ever I have on hand) + 1 tbsp cocoa powder + 1 tbsp peanut butter. It’s seriously such a delicious treat and keeps me full for a while too with the awesome carb/protein/fat combo.
New this week? String cheese and bringing my 2 little pieces of dark chocolate to work with me so I have them after lunch instead of in the evening. Even a little caffeine can keep me up so I’d rather have it before the sleepy afternoon hits. And I need my chocolate. 🙂
What I want to incorporate more of: beef (love it + great iron content) and veggie stir fries (easy and I want more veggies). Other than that I feel great about what I’ve been eating. I’m working on snacking less before bed but I do find I need something with protein (normally a small bowl of yogurt) or else I wake up ravenous.
Oh and in case you were wondering what the heck I did with the rutabaga – I roasted it in wedges/strips and used it as a dipper (far left side almost out of view in the picture above) for our beer cheddar fondue night. Turned out well!
Week in fitness
Last week was crazy strength heavy. This week is a little more back to normal. Here’s what I did:
Saturday: rest
Sunday: 2.2 mile run (10 min/miles)
Monday: taught 60 minute bootcamp
Tuesday: rest
Wednesday: went to 60 minute strength class + taught 60 minute body pump
Thursday: taught 60 minute cycle
Friday: headed to 60 minute strength this AM
Running felt amazing again! My only annoyance was my bladder but I pushed through it. The weather has been rainy so I didn’t get to run during my lunch break. Maybe next week.
I am noticing a lot more pulling on my stomach, especially when I reach or stretch for something. I’m trying to be more careful since I feel the pull now especially in my deep lower abs.
I definitely want to get back into swimming before Hunter gets here because I love it and think it will feel great. Now to see if I have any suits that fit…

Just found your blog…gotta do SOMETHING while the baby eats! She’s 8 days old and I am SO GLAD she’s here and OUT! You are right though, the snuggles are the best after you’ve been dreaming for SO LONG! It is so wonderful! You look great. I was still running at 41 weeks (had her at 41 + 3 days) and I thought my bladder might BURST! Congratulations on your baby! I ALWAYS ended up sleeping on my back, the brain does what it wants while sleeping…

Awwww thanks Casey 🙂
You are seriously too cute! I didn’t know that about sleeping on your back when pregnant…good to know!
Yup, as the baby grows his weight + the weight of your uterus presses down on a vein in your back that delivers nutrients/oxygen/that kind of stuff(?) to the baby.
You look SO good!!! Such a cute preggers. Whoop! Hope the heart burn goes away! The sleeping & peeing were the worst parts for me. I couldn’t wait to sleep normal again.
Mamas/mamas-to be question:
Did you have braxton hicks contractions during your pregnancy? How far along were you and what was it like? Yes! They started probably around the 6 month mark and I started having more as I moved along. They felt like my tummy was pulling into a ball
