I’ve made it to my 30s!! Not my age though (still a few more years to go before that), but my pregnancy 30s. The final count down to Hunter getting here.
How’s Hunter growing?
Your baby’s about 15.7 inches long now, and he weighs almost 3 pounds (like a head of cabbage). A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds him, but that volume will decrease as he gets bigger and takes up more room in your uterus. His eyesight continues to develop, though it’s not very keen; even after he’s born, he’ll keep his eyes closed for a good part of the day. When he does open them, he’ll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means he can only make out objects a few inches from his face. (Normal adult vision is 20/20.). — from babycenter
How am I feeling?
This week was much, much better than last week. For one, my itty bitty cold is gone. Two days of feeling lousy is all I ever really deal with. I’m still pretty tired at the end of the day, but I guess that comes with the third trimester territory.
My belly continues to grow and move like crazy when he kicks and squirms. Lately his favorite time to punch and kick in both directions is early in the morning about an hour or so before I get up. Looks like he might be an early morning bird like his mama!
The excitement continues
Jacob built the crib over the weekend, so that’s in the nursery now. Nothing else has been added, but we’re hoping to pick up the glider this weekend and see how that will fit in there too. Just visualizing how everything will fit together in the room makes us realize that the changing table might have to be put right outside the nursery in the hall. We’ll see but so far it’s a tight squeeze.
Both Jacob and I have had this overwhelming feeling of excitement for when Hunter gets here. Before I felt like time was going by too quickly and I just wouldn’t be ready. Now I can’t wait for the time to come when he arrives. We still aren’t really ready and need to pick up so many things (car seat being one so we can take him home!), but it’s really not a big worry of mine.
We bought a groupon this week for a 2 night stay at the beach that we plan to use in July/August and just thinking about taking a trip with Hunter got us even more excited for him to get here. It will be new, but very exciting for sure.
How I’m moving
My fitness continues on! While I didn’t manage to get a run in this week (too much rain for me on Sunday), I did cycle a lot.
Looks like I was into the power of 3s…
- 3 cycle classes were taught
- 3 brisk 20 minute walks happened
- 3 strength workouts went down (taught body pump, took 1 hour strength and did my back, buns and bicep workout)
Yesterday I did start having a fair amount of pain in my lower back on the right side. It feels like a pinched nerve. All day it was killing me anytime I got up to walk. Then I taught cycle and it felt sooooo much better. This morning I woke up with the pinchy feeling again, went to a workout and it feels better again.
I used a heat pad on it last night which was nice so maybe it’s just a tightness thing.
What I’m eating
We started our Bradley Method class last week and this week’s focus was on nutrition. I had to track my food for 3 days to see how much protein I’m eating. They recommend 80-100 grams, and each day I got over 100! My lowest was 102 and highest 115 grams. It helps that I eat and snack all day long.
Some of my favorite higher protein meals I ate during those 3 days…
- custard oats (I told the class about them and they were all pretty excited!)
- salmon burger
- homemade cheeseburger pizza
- lots and lots of hummus on homemade whole wheat tortillas
- egg scrambles
- cottage cheese and pita chips
- italian broccoli and beef casserole
Random bits
- How far along: 31 weeks, 2 days
- Total weight gained: 30 pounds (30 at my 30th week!!)
- Days remaining: just 62
- Workout planned for this weekend: lots of cycling at a workshop, all day long
- The belly button is starting to pop out!
