Week 32 was definitely an eventful one, but more on that in a bit. We had our bi-weekly midwife appointment, got to hear little Hunter’s heart and see my belly move a bunch as he squirmed around. We had so many questions this time! A lot of them came up from what was talked about during our Bradley Method class the previous Tuesday. It was so nice not feeling rushed and getting every question out of the way. We’re thinking more and more about the day he gets here!
Every week my stomach is measured in cm, and typically the cm measurement corresponds with how far along you are (30 cm at 30 weeks). I’d been right in track until our 32 week appointment where I measured in at 31 cm, which is not a big deal we were told. It’ll be interesting to see where I’m at during our 34 week appointment.
So how is our little guy growing?
By now, your baby weighs 3.75 pounds (pick up a large jicama) and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space in your uterus. You’re gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to your baby. In fact, he’ll gain a third to half of his birth weight during the next 7 weeks as he fattens up for survival outside the womb. He now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). His skin is becoming soft and smooth as he plumps up in preparation for birth. — from babycenter
I’m glad he’s the size of a jicama because it’s been too long since I’ve picked one up. Love the crunch of it!
Now onto our eventful weekend…
I taught a 45 minute cycle class on Saturday, nothing out of the ordinary. About 10 minutes after I was sitting at a table talking to another instructor and got a cramp in my lower right side on my stomach. It lasted for about 1 minute which totally freaked me out. Had I kept my cool, what happened next probably would have been different. I began to feel all clammy, shaky and like I was going to pass out. The called the paramedics (guess they don’t want a 32 week pregnant lady going into labor). By the time they got there I was all back to normal, but they suggested I go to the ER just to be sure everything was okay. Jacob picked me up, took me and we checked in with our midwife on the way who happened to already be there.
They hooked me up to 2 monitors, one for Hunter’s heart rate and the other to check if I was having contractions. His heart rate was just perfect. I was having contractions every 2-3 minutes the entire hour/hour and a half we were there. No pain and I was totally hydrated (I’m always good about drinking my water). Guess that’s just how my uterus is! So, baby didn’t come. I’ve still got at least 4 more weeks (hopefully) of cooking to go, then it’s a fair game to when he shows up!
My week in fitness was a bit different because of our fun filled Saturday. Jacob is all sorts of worried about me teaching and working out now. I understand his worry, but I am very stubborn and hate (absolutely hate) being told what to do if it’s not what I want to do. He almost didn’t want me teaching at all until after Hunter gets here, but we compromised a bit. Let’s see what I did…
Saturday – taught 45 minute cycle
Sunday – rested
Monday – 20 minute walk with Jacob and Joe
Tuesday – 60 minute water aerobics class
Wednesday – taught 60 minute body pump class
Thursday – rested
Friday – 20 minute walk with Jacob and Joe
I had planned to go to another water aerobics class on Thursday, but after a horrible nights sleep, the 5:30am class just wasn’t going to happen. Since I started going to water aerobics I’ve made it every Tuesday morning so far!
In random baby news, I washed and folded the rest of the baby clothes I had not gotten to yet. We have a lot of 6 month old clothes… not much smaller and not much bigger. 3 newborn cloth diapers are in our possession, and all were free from the store too! The crib has a mattress in it, the glider is set up upstairs (and I love sitting in it) and I even emptied out some room in the closet to hang baby clothes.
Random bits
- How far along: 33 weeks, 2 days
- Total weight gained: 33.5 pounds (gaining a steady 1-1.5 pounds a week!)
- First baby shower: in 9 days!
- Next midwife appointment: in 7 days
- Count down: 48 more days to go!
Any other experiences out there like we had on Saturday? What are you looking forward to this weekend?!
Heather
