my pregnancy: week 37

by Heather

Welcome to Friday! There is never a Friday I don’t look forward to. One day from the weekend… sure can’t beat that.

Did you like the nutella surprise (bean!) balls from yesterday? I definitely see another batch in the works soon. They’re super easy.

This week felt much more different than any of the past few weeks. It’s like a new born energy is flowing out of me. I have slept less, not by choice, yet I feel pumped to get stuff done. Saturday night I was up until almost midnight cleaning and putting things away. A couple days ago I spent a good hour weeding and even planted the herbs I bought a month ago that were about to die.

These are all not normal Heather things. It’s like a whole new level of nesting over here. Ya know what? I kinda like it. I absolutely love the productive feeling!

My week in fitness is pretty close to what I’d planned.

Saturday – 60 minute walk with Jacob + Joe
Sunday – 25 minute walk with Jacob + Joe
Monday – rest day
Tuesday – 60 minute water aerobics class, 15 minute walk and 60 minute (weight free) body pump practice
Wednesday – 15 minute walk and taught 60 minute body pump class + about 1 hour of yard work
Thursday – 60 minute water aerobics class and 2 x 15 minute walks
Friday – 60 minute strength workout + at least 1 15 minute walk

The weeding I did on Wednesday left my back in a lot of pain all night long and the next day. I could not wait for my chiropractic appointment at the end of the day. Sitting at a desk doesn’t help the pain one bit, but chiropractic always helps. Plus icing it too.  It’s much much better today now.

Enough about me, let’s see what Hunter is up to this 37th week.

Your baby is now considered “full term,” even though your due date is three weeks away. If you go into labor now, his lungs will likely be mature enough to fully adjust to life outside the womb. (Some babies need a bit more time, though. So if you’re planning to have a repeat c-section, for example, your practitioner will schedule it for no earlier than 39 weeks unless there’s a medical reason to intervene earlier.)

Your baby weighs 6 ⅓ pounds and measures a bit over 19 inches, head to heel (like a stalk of Swiss chard). Many babies have a full head of hair at birth, with locks from ½ inch to 1 ½ inches long. But don’t be surprised if your baby’s hair isn’t the same color as yours. Dark-haired couples are sometimes thrown for a loop when their children come out as blonds or redheads, and fair-haired couples have been surprised by Elvis look-alikes. And then, of course, some babies sport only peach fuzz. — from babycenter

At my 37 week midwife appointment my belly went from 33cm to 35cm – so a big growth (which explains the 3.5 pound increase last week). This week, no change in weight, so still at 41 pounds total. I definitely feel like my belly has grown a ton though, so we’ll see how it measures this afternoon at my appointment.

Pregnancy emotions did get the best of me on Sunday. Maybe it was because I stayed up way to late the night before, but I felt like a reck. Crying over spilling on my shirt…. nothing that matters but when it happened I just broke down. We ended up missing church that day, then I felt guilty, making the tears last even longer. Jacob was sweet the entire time, we walked and eventually I felt better. Emotions are crazy.

I’m lucky to have such a supportive hubby in my crazy moments, which I’m sure won’t end anytime soon 🙂

My favorite Mother’s Day was when we all went to the lake and just sat and watched people. I don’t know why but that day always sticks out in my memory.

This will be my first Mother’s Day – our son is 9 months old so I’m not expecting much but more than ever I want to do something for my mom. Now being a mom I realize how much she has ever done for me and I don’t feel like I have shown her my greatfulness enough.

I loved that gotta-get-stuff-done feeling! Have a Happy weekend!

You look great! My favorite Mother’s Day memory is when my family would walk about 3 miles away to a WWII themed diner, where the mothers would all get roses. Since I’ve been at college, I haven’t spent Mother’s Day with my mom in 3 years!
