Homemade Taco & Fajita Seasoning – Bulk Batch Recipe
Every Tuesday, we do tacos in one way or another (taco Tuesday for the win!).
Maybe it’s a taco bowls, fish tacos, ground beef tacos, steak tacos, chicken tacos, or taco salad. Maybe it’s burritos or tostadas. Really it’s the only thing I want on Tuesdays!
Mexican food is always a win in our house, and taco night just got easier with this homemade taco and fajita seasoning mix! It’s an easy option to replace a packet of taco seasoning.
It comes together in minutes, and you likely already have everything on hand. If not, you can find the pantry staples at your regular grocery store.
So why not take a couple minutes of your day to simplify your future taco night?
Why you’ll love this homemade taco seasoning
Budget friendly – Save money when you purchase spices in the bulk section! This is a great way to make your homemade taco seasoning a better price than buying an individual seasoning packet each time you want to make taco meat.
No junky fillers – Know exactly what is in your taco mix by creating a blend perfect for you! There is no MSG, fillers, or ingredients you can’t pronounce in this recipe.
Great flavor – You can make this spice blend as spicy or mild as you like! It has great flavor and the heat can be adjusted up or down depending on the chili powder amount you use. Use less for a more mild mix, or more for more heat. You can even add a little cayenne pepper in to bring the spice level up even more!

How to use your bulk seasoning
The ratio I use when adding a single batch of taco flavor to protein is 2 tablespoons of taco seasoning for each 1 pound of protein (like 1 pound of ground beef), plus 2-3 tablespoons of water.
That could be with ground beef, ground turkey or chicken breast.
I find 2 tbsp is the perfect amount to add flavor.
If you love extra taco flavor or more spice level, increase it to 3 tbsp per 1 pound of protein.
