Easy 5 Ingredient Tart Cherry Juice Lime Mocktail

I love this drink in the daytime as a refreshing alternative to water. It’s also a good idea in the evening because it helps me get good sleep with the sleepy girl magnesium addition option.

I often opt for some kind of fizzy drink to enjoy instead of a glass of wine. I feel better the next day, and my kids can happily steal sips from it, too.

A can of sparkling water is great, but sometimes it’s fun to mix it up with fun flavors. Tart cherries are the star in giving our sparkly water some pizaaz!

And if you’re looking for some extra restful sleep, don’t skip the magnesium!

Why you’ll love this easy mocktail recipe

Great for adults and kids – No need to make something separate for the kids; they can enjoy this drink, too, since there is no alcohol!

Low sugar – Most mocktails that use tart cherry juice use lots of simple syrup to balance out the tartness. In my version, we’re embracing it, but balancing it with dark cherries and a touch fo maple syrup for natural sweetness, along with a little lime juice & sparkling water. If you also add magnesium powder, that will add a little sweetness naturally as well.

Better version of that sleepy girl mocktail – If you’ve seen the sleepy girl mocktial all over the internet, try my version below! I’m sharing my favorite magnesium powder that makes me feel so sleepy on its own, but it’s a powerhouse for great rest with the pure tart cherry juice.

How to make it a sleepy girl mocktail recipe

I love that tart cherry juice got tied with adding magnesium supplements into an evening drink.

They both promote better sleep. The tart cherry juice helps to increase your natural melatonin and tryptophan levels, which magnesium can help relax your muscles and brain.

The two together are a power house to fall asleep faster!

Here’s what to do: Add 1 tablespoon of magnesium powder (I like this magnesium glycinate powder – the orange flavor pairs well in the mocktail!) to make your own sleepy girl mocktail. Enjoy with a good book, dim lighting, and a snuggly blanket for the ultimate evening relaxation to set you up for a great sleep routine.

Substitutions, optional variations & dietary adjustments

Below you’ll find a list of substitutions that will work well in this sleep girl mocktail recipe.

If you try something different out, please leave a comment below letting us all know how it turned out!

Sweet dark cherries – I like to buy these frozen because they are harder to find fresh year-round. You can use sweet cherry juice if you can’t find cherries, or change up the flavor a bit and use orange juice to add natural sweetness.

Tart cherry juice – The key ingredient of this drink! If you can’t find tart cherry juice, look for a cherry juice that is a combination of tart cherry juice and pomegranate juice.

Lime juice – Feel free to use your favorite citrus here – lemons, grapefruit, and oranges are all great options!

Maple syrup – Agave is a good alternative. Feel free to adjust the amount of sweetness up or down depending on your preference.

Cherry seltzer water – Plain seltzer water works really well here, or a different flavor like lime would go well. Club soda, a cherry-flavored prebiotic soda, or a (low sugar) sour cherry soda would go well with this too!

Magnesium powder – While I personally prefer magnesium glycinate powder, you could use magnesium citrate or whichever kind you like.
