5 Ingredient Cucumber Mango Smoothie – Protein Packed
I’m a firm believer that healthy smoothie recipes should nourish you while also tasting amazing! On a hot summer day, I want a delicious drink like this because it helps to increase my energy level.
Cucumber has a natural high water content and makes smoothies extra creamy when blended in. It’s hydrating and an awesome use if you find yourself with lots of cucumbers when they are in season!
If you enjoy cucumber, you will love this drink! If you are learning to like cucumber (or your kids are) you can easily reduce the cucumber in half to not taste it as much.
What kind of cucumber should you use?
Choose a cucumber with a thinner skin – English cucumbers, Persian cucumbers, and mini cucumbers are all great options.
You can also use regular cucumber, but I suggest peeling some of the skin first – this will leave you with a creamier smoothie.

Recipe success tips
If you don’t have a high-speed blender, no worries! Here is how to get your greens fully blended in (no one wants pieces of spinach in their drink!).
Add the milk and spinach and fully blend them. You may need to scrape down the sides to get all the spinach into the liquid.
Once the spinach is fully mixed in and you don’t have any pieces left, then add the remaining ingredients, reblend, and enjoy!
Substitutions, optional variations & dietary adjustments
Below you’ll find a list of substitutions that will work well in this cucumber mango smoothie recipe.
If you try something different out, please leave a comment below letting us all know how it turned out!
Almond milk – Use your favorite type of milk here. You can also swap in coconut water!
Fresh spinach – Frozen spinach works well here, just use a lot less as frozen spinach is more concentrated. You could also use baby kale as a good alternative.
Cucumber – Zucchini is another great green vegetable that works well in this green smoothie recipe!
Frozen mango – You can also opt to use fresh mango. If you do use fresh mango, add some ice cubes while blending.
Vanilla protein powder – Want a non-protein powder alternative? Use flax seeds, hemp hearts, or chia seeds instead.
