Homemade Dairy-Free Fresh Strawberry Milk Recipe

After getting hooked on strawberry hot cocoa (so pretty & delicious!) over the winter, I needed a pretty milk and fruity drink to add into our rotation. That’s where strawberry milk came in!

When strawberries were at their peak ripeness over the summer, we made this multiple times a week. The kids loved sipping on it, and I enjoyed using it for strawberry iced matchas.

My version is dairy-free (I use almond milk, but feel free to use your favorite kind of milk here) and includes a protein boost from the protein powder.

It’s creamy, comes together in minutes, and has no added sugar, unlike the store-bought versions you’d find at the grocery store.

Why you’ll love this strawberry pink milk recipe

Made with real fruit – The natural sweetness of the strawberries adds the best flavor, sweet touch, and color. Fresh strawberries are best, but frozen will work, too!

Healthy alternative – Skip store-bought strawberry milk that’s full of artificial flavors and added sugar. This is a great option to make at home!

Quick and easy to make – Just blend, strain, and enjoy in under 5 minutes.

  • Fresh strawberries – Washed, hulled, and halved. Peak strawberry season will give the sweetest flavor.
  • Almond milk – Or your favorite dairy-free milk like oat, coconut, or cashew milk.
  • Vanilla protein powder – Boosts nutrition, adds sweetness, and makes it a great post-workout drink.

How to make it

Step 1: To a high speed blender (or food processor), add the milk, fresh berries, and protein powder. Blend until completely smooth.

Step 2: Pour through a fine mesh strainer or nut milk bag into a large jar or pitcher to remove any pulp for an ultra-smooth texture.

Step 3: Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or serve your delicious drink immediately over ice cubes.

Serving suggestion

  • Serve ice-cold in a tall glass for a refreshing drink on hot summer days.
  • Freeze into popsicle molds for refreshing strawberry vegan ice cream popsicles.
  • Pour over cereal for a fun, fruity twist.
  • Blend with vanilla ice cream for a creamy vegan strawberry milkshake.

How to store

Store in an airtight container or mason jar in the refrigerator. The flavor and texture are best when enjoyed within 2–3 days for maximum freshness.

Give the container a quick shake or stir before serving, as natural separation may occur.

Substitutions, optional variations & dietary adjustments

Below you’ll find a list of substitutions that will work well in this delicious vegan strawberry milk recipe.

If you try something different out, please leave a comment below letting us all know how it turned out!

Almond milk – Swap for oat milk, coconut milk, or soy milk for a different flavor profile. You can also use regular milk if dairy works for you!

Fresh strawberries – Frozen strawberries work in a pinch; thaw them first for easier blending. Freeze-dried strawberries will work here as well!

Vanilla protein powder – Can be replaced with plain or strawberry-flavored protein, or omitted entirely. If omitted, add 1-2 tbsp honey or maple syrup for a touch of sweetness.
