Jacob and I typically don’t eat much pork. Except for the occasional pulled pork, I don’t cook it very often. I think I’ve always liked it more than him, which is another reason I don’t pick it up at the store often.
Then one day our friends brought some pork over to BBQ. We prepped it at our place, making a dry rub, and ever since we’ve been in love!
Dry rubs are soooooo simple and pack in tons of flavor. I will take simple whenever I can these days.
Dry Rub for Pork
Makes enough for 1 pound
- 2 tbsp flour (whole wheat is what I typically use)
- 2 tsp dried oregano
- 2 tsp dried thyme
- 3/4 tsp pepper
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 1/4 tsp all spice
- 1/8 tsp clove
Combine in a plastic bag, add the pork and shake to cover. It tastes best when cooked on the BBQ, but if I’m cooking it inside on our grill pan, I heat it to med-high, add a touch of oil to the pan and cook on both sides for 3-5 minutes (depending on the thickness).
Do you eat pork? How do you like to prepare it?

Pork was on sale this week so I had some in the fridge. Those spices are ones I don’t use as often. We tried the rub tonight and it was delicious! Super easy too.
So glad you liked it!!
Heather, it looks great.
I love pulled pork, but I rarely make it. In fact, we rarely eat meat in our house because I’m so terrible at preparing it. We are basically vegetarians at home, omnivores at restaurants.
Looks perfect! I rarely eat pork, but Josh is a HUGE pulled pork fan. Thats really the only way we ever eat it! I should give this a go!
