I seem to be doing these weekly updates toward the of each pregnancy week. It wasn’t really on purpose at first, but now I really like to get a feel for how the whole week went. Each Thursday starts a new week, so be on the lookout to see these Tuesdays/Wednesdays.

How’s baby growing?

For week 11 we moved away from a little prune, to a big ol’ lime!

11 weeks

Your baby, just over 1 1/2 inches long and about the size of a lime or a fig, is now almost fully formed. Her hands will soon open and close into fists, tiny tooth buds are beginning to appear under her gums, and some of her bones are beginning to harden.

She’s already busy kicking and stretching (we saw that!!!), and her tiny movements are so effortless they look like water ballet. These movements will become more frequent as her body grows and becomes more developed and functional. You won’t feel your baby’s acrobatics for another month or two — nor will you notice the hiccupping that may be happening now that her diaphragm is forming. — from babycenter

If you read over the weekend, you know we had a little scare that ended in pure joy. We got to see our little one squirming around like crazy. He or she is growing right on track.

How am I feeling?

11 weeks

This week was quite emotional. Not only was our appointment an emotional roller coaster, but I’ve just been a roller coaster of pregnant lady emotions.

I started to have a tough time with body image this week. I’ve began to really feel uncomfortable in my body and in my clothes. I had a major tear fest on Saturday about it.

I think a lot of it had to do with our appointment on Friday… I got weighed in the afternoon (not the normal time I weigh myself) and it showed I’d already gained 10 lb. Everywhere I read the normal amount to gain in your first trimester is 3-5 lb. I was well on my way to doubling or tripling that by the time my first trimester ends.

Well I guess I over reacted a bit… I weighed myself first thing in the morning and was where I thought I really was at… 6.5-7 lb.

I know I shouldn’t even worry about it, and I’m not anymore, I just had a temporary freak out. I’m only tracking my weight because I’m curious to see how it changes throughout my pregnancy.

What I’m eating

My meals have been pretty much heading back to my normal eating. What I’ve been love, love, loving the most are chicken or salmon caesar salads. Oh yeah, and loving salmon in general.

These salmon burgers are my absolute favorite.

Luckily they come in a big Costco bag, but will probably only last the 2 of us about 1.5-2 weeks. Jacob loves em too 🙂

I’m super happy to say that I can eat almost anything now. Apples put me off for a little while, but now I’m loving them dipped in almond butter again. A great afternoon snack I’ve been loving. My very favorite cocoa-banana custard oats have been an every morning thing. Seriously, I wake up, make that for breakfast, and enjoy every minute of it.

How I’m moving

My fitness is still pretty much the same. I exercise 5-6 times a week, so 1-2 rest days depending on how I’m feeling. So far I’ve ran once this week, which has been my normal thing, but I may run twice if my mom wants to run with me tomorrow. I’ve been running at lunch lately, which I plan to talk about more in another post.

Since Body Pump has now launched I’ll be teaching that once a week along with cycle once a week.

I feel really fortunate that I’ve been able to maintain my fitness so far in my pregnancy without nausea or extreme tiredness getting in the way. I’ve been sleepy, oh so very sleepy, but I still make sure to exercise. It helps give me more energy for sure.

On Saturday I tried Zumba out for the first time, and while it was super fun, I think next time I won’t workout before hand. We had been practicing Body Pump for our launch the following Monday, so after 1 hour of lifting, nothing too challenging, and not eating for a while, I just felt wiped out during Zumba. I’ve started keeping a snack of almonds + raisins in my purse for those times when my body needs a little fuel. That should do the trick!

Fun stuff

I picked up a pair of maternity pants. They definitely have a lot of room to grow into, so right now they’re soooo comfy. It’s not that I can’t fit into my other pants, I just really don’t like the tightness I feel at my waist in some of them. I have about 3 pants I’m rotating through currently. I met up with my friend who had twins in June over the weekend and she let me borrow 3 pairs of maternity pants that will be really good for when my belly is much bigger.

She showed me her pictures they took week by week and it made me really excited. You could definitely tell there was a baby bump on her at week 14-15! She was having twins so that could have made a difference. 🙂

They’re the tastiest! It’s so hard not to eat them every day. I think I’ve seen them for sale at Fred Meyers too… Maybe just in a small bag?
