This high protein Dubai yogurt recipe pulls inspiration from the famous Dubai chocolate – known for its creamy pistachio filling and snappy chocolate coating – and turns those flavors into a fun, everyday snack cup. This version layers creamy pistachio yogurt with a crackable chocolate shell and pistachio crunch for that same indulgent vibe in minutes. My take keeps the dessert feel while using Greek yogurt and simple ingredients + added protein, so it actually keeps you full. You get creamy, crunchy, chocolatey, and salty goodness in every bite – basically an irresistible dessert that doubles as a high-protein snack!

Dubai Chocolate Yogurt Cup (High-Protein Viral Snack)
I quickly became obsessed with this protein yogurt cup because of the flavors. Knowing I’m getting 30 grams of protein kept me coming back!
I love this viral treat because it feels like a fun dessert but actually nourishes your body.
The combo of Greek yogurt + chocolate protein powder + cocoa powder gives you an incredibly delicious, high-protein, creamy base to start with.
Once the base is done, we use crispy cereal (in place of the crispy shredded filo pastry strands) + pistachio butter for the crunchy topping.
Then everything is topped with delicious melted chocolate that hardens in the fridge for a nice, snappy finish.
The crackable chocolate top and pistachio crunch make it feel extra special, not just another yogurt cup. Feels like dessert but we’re getting something balanced!

5 minute prep – No baking, just mix and chill. Make a bunch at one time and enjoy all week long.
Customizable – Easy to swap flavors and toppings and use what you have on hand!

- Non-fat Greek yogurt – The thick, creamy base that keeps this snack high in protein and gives it that cheesecake-like texture.
- Chocolate protein powder – Boosts protein and turns the yogurt into a rich chocolate pudding flavor.
- Cocoa powder – Deepens the chocolate taste without adding extra sugar.
- Pistachio butter – Brings the signature Dubai chocolate flavor and creamy nuttiness.
- Rice Chex (or other rice cereal) – Adds the light, crispy crunch that mimics the filling texture of toasted kataifi.
- Dark chocolate chips – Melted on top to create the classic crackable chocolate shell.
- Pistachios – For a salty, nutty finish and extra texture contrast.

Meal prep tips
You can prep several yogurt cups at once and keep them in the fridge for easy grab-and-go snacks during the week.
- Store assembled cups covered in the fridge up to 5 days
- Add the chocolate shell right before eating for the best crunch
- Or fully set the shell ahead of time and crack just before serving
- Keep toppings separate if you want the cereal extra crispy
Can you freeze them?
Yes! These freeze really well and turn into a froyo-style treat.
- Freeze without the chocolate shell for the creamiest texture
- Or freeze fully assembled for a chocolate-covered frozen yogurt cup
- Let sit at room temp 5-10 minutes before eating so it softens slightly
- Best enjoyed within 1-2 weeks for texture and flavor

Substitutions, optional variations & dietary adjustments
Below you’ll find a list of substitutions that will work well in this dubai yogurt cup recipe.
If you try something different out, please leave a comment below letting us all know how it turned out!
Greek yogurt – Swap for dairy-free yogurt or skyr. Use thick yogurt so the layers hold.
Chocolate protein powder – Vanilla works too, just keep the cocoa powder for the chocolate flavor. If you’re using an unsweetened protein powder, add a little maple syrup for sweetness.
Pistachio butter – Pistachio cream works in place of pistachio butter. You can also swap in almond butter, peanut butter, or sunflower seed butter; all work well.
Rice Chex – Any crispy cereal like Rice Krispies or crushed granola adds crunch. You can also use crispy shredded filo pastry strands if you have them.
Dark chocolate chips – Milk chocolate or sugar-free chocolate both melt and harden nicely. A melted chocolate bar works too!
Pistachios – Try almonds, peanuts, or coconut flakes for a different crunch.
