Easy Homemade 3 Ingredient Lemonade Popsicles – Healthy!
A hot day calls for this lemonade popsicle recipe! The whole family will enjoy this one.
My kids devoured these, and I thought it was a perfect refreshing treat. After spending a morning pulling weeds in the yard in warm weather, the fresh lemon flavor really hit the spot!
To keep them from getting too icy by using just lemonade, we’re adding canned coconut milk into the mix. The coconut adds creaminess and a really great texture to these popsicles.
And don’t skip the lemon zest! It adds brightness, extra lemon flavor, and that special something that makes these the best lemon ice pops around!
The best type of popsicle mold to use
Silicone molds make removing popsicles easy! They work great and use wooden popsicle sticks.
I’m sharing the molds I used pictured in this recipe, along with other great options. These are the popsicle wrappers I used.
Traditional popsicle molds
- Silicone popsicle mold – a more traditional look for popsicles and easy to release with silicone.
Push pop popsicle molds
- Silicone push pop popsicle molds – if you love a popsicle shape that’s reminiscent of push pops, check these out!
Baby teether popsicle molds

Popsicle sticks

Dixie cups

How to make these delicious creations
Step 1: Into a large bowl, add the lemonade, coconut milk, and zest from 1 lemon. Whisk to fully combine.
Step 2: Pour the lemonade mixture into the popsicle molds and add popsicle sticks. If your popsicle maker has a lid for the top of the mold, be sure to cover it with the lid it comes with.
Step 3: Place in the freezer for 4-6 hours, until popsicles are frozen solid. Remove and enjoy! A great way to get stick popsicles out is by running the outside of the mold under warm water to help them to release.

How to pick a lemonade to use
We’re using store-bought lemonade in this recipe. When at the grocery store, look for a lemonade that has water, lemon juice, and sugar as the main ingredients.
You may be able to find a lemonade that is lower in sugar (this recipe was used with a lower-sugar lemonade). If you’d like to keep the sugar content lower, go for that option!
How to remove popsicles from stuck molds
If you’re dealing with stuck popsicles here’s what to do:
- Take the popsicle mold and run the outside edges of the popsicle under warm water.
- Wiggle the popsicles until they come loose.
- Sometimes warmer water is needed for a really stuck popsicle.
How to store
Once the popsicles are fully frozen you can store them in many different ways:
- Keep them in the popsicles molds until you’re ready to enjoy
- Remove from the popsicle molds and store in the freezer individually wrapped
- Remove from the popsicle mold and store in an airtight container or freezer plastic bag with parchment paper wrapped around each popsicle. This will help prevent them from sticking together.
Substitutions
Below you’ll find a list of substitutions that will work well in this homemade lemon popsicle recipe.
If you try something different out, please leave a comment below letting us all know how it turned out!
Lemonade – For this easy recipe we are using store-bought lemonade. You can select your favorite option, and look at the sugar content in the lemonade to decide if you’d like it sweeter, or less sweet. You can always whisk in a little maple syrup or honey to sweeten it up a bit more. If you’d like to make your own lemonade with fresh lemon juice or bottled lemon juice, add ¾ cup sugar and ½ cup water into a small saucepan over medium heat. Dissolve the sugar to make a simple syrup. Add in ¾ cup lemon juice, and then dilute with 3 cups of cold water. Homemade lemonade with fresh ingredients!
Coconut milk – Coconut cream is a great alternative to coconut milk. For a non-coconut option, you can use heavy cream or half and half. Cashew milk or macadamia nut milk will work here too!
Lemon zest – Try lime zest in place of lemon zest for a lemon-lime-flavored frozen treat! A little minced fresh basil or fresh mint would be delicious alternatives as well.
