Hi. I first found your web page maybe 4 years ago through Pinterest and it’s been cool seeing how your life has changed. And now I listed to the podcast too and just listened to your path to becoming a group ex instructor.
That been super interesting to me because I became one last year and began working for 24 HF as a Pop Pilates Instructor. And now I’m scripting and getting ready to shoot my assessment video for Les Mills BodyCombat. And I’m studying for the AFFA group ex cert.
You talked about how many other carts you have and you don’t teach them all. How did you find that financially doable – to do all of those trainings? And do you only teach at 24, and have your private clients, now? Is that financially rewarding since you have to have your own insurance, etc?
Just trying to navigate my way as I get more into this. Currently I’m teaching 4 regular Pop Pilates classes, at 3 different places, and 1 place wants to me to add in another 2 classes a week. And I have another gym that I currently sub with – not sure what’ll work out with them.
I know that the right mix is different for everyone but I was curious about your take.
Thanks and I hope that you’re still feeling great during this pregnancy.
Hi Jackie!
Thanks for your comment and for following along for so many years! I have taught at a bunch of different locations over the years, and now I’m most consistently at 24 HF + private clients. At least half of my trainings have been covered by employers, so that helps financially. I also know that to maintain my group fitness certification, that I’ll need to invest in CEUs in some way, and I enjoy trainings and learning new formats so I’m okay paying a bit more for them. Insurance is pretty cost effective and way less than paying for trainings. I’m happy to share resources for that if you are interested!
It sounds like you have a great set up with lots of location options, which is really nice for creating a schedule you love! Having the group fitness cert will definitely open up more doors, and I’m excited for you to complete BodyCombat as well, it is SUCH a fun class to teach!
Please reach out with any more questions!
