Chicken Caesar Smash Tacos (High-Protein & Easy!)
Smash burger tacos have been all over social media lately – that crispy tortilla + juicy, smashed meat combo is just too good!
I took that fun smash burgers trend and layered in one of my all-time favorite flavor combos (chicken caesar!) to turn it into a fresh, high-protein, family-friendly meal that feels exciting but is still super simple to make on a busy weeknight.
These chicken caesar smash tacos are made by pressing seasoned ground chicken onto tortillas, cooking them meat side down in a hot skillet until golden and crispy, then topping with creamy caesar salad and parmesan cheese.
A quick, high-protein twist on traditional tacos that’s perfect for busy weeknights when your family is hungry!

Why you’ll love these chicken Caesar tacos
High protein – Lean ground chicken + parmesan + high-protein caesar dressing makes these tacos satisfying and balanced. They’ll actually keep you full – not reaching for snacks an hour later. You get 21 grams of protein per taco!
Family friendly meal – It’s basically tacos + salad in one. The crispy tortilla wins over the kids, and you can adjust toppings for everyone (extra cheese, no lettuce, more red pepper flakes, etc.).
Perfect for busy nights – They cook in one large skillet over medium-high heat and are done in about 15-20 minutes of total time. Minimal prep, one pan, simple ingredients, big flavor, and super juicy chicken!

Simple ingredients you’ll need for caesar salad chicken tacos
Scroll down to view the full recipe card below for the full ingredients list, nutrition facts, and step-by-step instructions.
- Lean ground chicken – I like 94% lean for the best balance of flavor and protein without excess grease.
- Granulated garlic – Adds savory depth throughout the chicken mixture.
- Italian seasoning – Brings subtle herby flavor that pairs perfectly with Caesar.
- Sea salt
- Black pepper
- Small tortillas – Almond flour or corn tortilla for extra crisp and texture, or flour tortillas for a softer bite.
- Small head romaine lettuce – Crisp, fresh, and classic for a creamy caesar salad.
- High-protein creamy caesar dressing – I use my high-protein version (linked on the site!) for extra grams of protein.
- Parmesan cheese – Freshly grated melts slightly into the warm chicken and adds that salty finish.
- Extra parmesan + crushed red pepper – Optional but highly recommended for extra flavor.
- Optional squeeze of lemon – Brightens everything up.

How to make this quick weeknight dinner
Step 1: In a mixing bowl, combine ground chicken, granulated garlic, Italian seasoning, sea salt, and black pepper.
Step 2: Divide into 6 equal balls. Press a thin layer of the chicken mixture onto each tortilla, spreading it evenly to the edges.
Step 3: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add a small amount of olive oil if needed. Place chicken-side down into the hot skillet and cook 3-4 minutes until golden and starting to crisp. (cook in batches if needed)

Step 4: Flip with a spatula and cook another 2-3 minutes until the edges of the tortilla are crispy and the chicken is fully cooked (165 degrees F internal temp).
Step 5: In a large bowl, toss romaine with Caesar dressing and parmesan cheese.
Step 6: Top each crispy chicken taco with the salad, extra parmesan, and a sprinkle of crushed red pepper. Serve immediately for the crispiest tortilla!

Storage tips
Store leftover chicken smash tacos in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in a medium heat skillet, a warm oven, or an air fryer to bring back that crispy tortilla.
If possible, store the Caesar salad separately to keep it fresh and crisp.

What to serve with this quick dinner
This chicken caesar smash taco is pretty balanced on its own, but if you’re building out dinner, here are some favorites:
- Roasted sweet potatoes fries
- Cottage cheese breadsticks
- Fresh fruit salad
- Grilled asparagus
- A simple salad of cucumber and cherry tomatoes
- Crunchy lemon tahini slaw
- Crispy bacon crumbles on the side for extra protein & crunch

Substitutions, optional variations & dietary adjustments
Below you’ll find a list of substitutions that will work well in this caesar chicken tacos recipe.
If you try something different out, please leave a comment below letting us all know how it turned out!
Ground Chicken – Swap with ground turkey, chicken mince, or even lean ground beef. You can also use finely chopped rotisserie chicken pressed into a thin layer.
Granulated Garlic – Sub with garlic powder (same amount), 1 small minced garlic clove, or onion powder.
Italian Seasoning – Use dried oregano + basil, or swap for chili powder if you want more taco-style flavor.
Tortillas – Corn tortillas for extra crisp, small flour tortillas for flexibility. You can also try low-carb tortillas or mini tortillas for smaller portions.
Romaine Lettuce – Swap with shredded green cabbage for crunch or chopped kale (massage first).
Caesar Dressing – Use store-bought creamy caesar dressing, Greek yogurt-based dressing, or make your own with Greek yogurt, lemon juice, parmesan, garlic, and anchovy paste.
Parmesan Cheese – Fresh mozzarella, pecorino romano, or even a dairy-free alternative works.
Crushed Red Pepper – Skip it, or add hot sauce for heat instead.
