Peppermint Date Hot Chocolate Recipe with Collagen
I love chocolate, and hot chocolate has become my morning drink since stopping coffee.
I don’t want to start my day with a sugar bomb though. I’ve found using chocolate collagen powder levels up my hot cocoa and brings more goodness into it.
This peppermint date hot chocolate makes my mornings extra special. You can mix up the type of non-dairy milk you use – sometimes I use almond milk, other times coconut milk, or even cashew milk to make it extra creamy and decadent!
Why you’ll love this homemade hot chocolate recipe
Crushes chocolate cravings in a healthy way – A good mug of hot cocoa crushes can crush a chocolate craving, but I don’t want any kind of hot chocolate mix – I want one that adds more goodness to my body, and this recipe does with the addition of collagen protein!
Natural sweetener – You won’t find any added sugar in here, just natural sugar from dates! We love sweetening treats with dates because they add more fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Why not add more goodness? You can always swap in maple syrup or honey for the dates as well.
Added protein boost – This cozy drink gives you 13 grams of protein per mug. It’s the perfect nightcap when you want something warm and cozy that offers a bit of protein to keep you more satiated.

Medjool dates – Any type of date will work here! You can also swap the dates for 1-2 tbsp of pure maple syrup or honey.
Unsweetened almond milk – Use your favorite kind of milk that leaves you feeling good.
Peppermint extract – Optional to give it that minty flavor. Feel free to use vanilla extract to omit the mint flavor.
Chocolate Collagen – The stevia and monk fruit sweetened chocolate collagen powder adds to the sweetness while also adding protein to your drink. You can use unflavored collagen, but you’ll want to add a bit more cocoa powder and 1-2 more dates.
