My Traeger burgers are my typical go-to burger recipe, but these homemade lamb burgers are one of my favorite burger recipes when I want something different from classic ground beef burgers.

The combination of ground lamb, mint, oregano, feta, and red onions gives every bite SO much flavor, while the lemon dill Greek yogurt sauce keeps everything fresh and bright.

Serve them on toasted burger buns with crisp lettuce, tomato slices, and extra red onion for the juiciest burger of the summer.

How to make lamb burgers with feta cheese

Step 1: In a large bowl, combine the ground lamb, egg, thawed spinach, minced red onion, oregano, mint, salt, pepper, oat flour, ketchup, and feta cheese. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix the meat mixture. Divide into 8 equal portions and shape into equal patties.

Step 2: Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grates with a little olive oil if needed.

Step 3: Cook the burger patty for 4-5 minutes per side, or until the lamb burgers are cooked through and reach an internal temperature of 160 degrees F.

Step 4: Toast the burger buns while the burgers cook.

Step 5: Serve each lamb feta burger on a toasted bottom bun with lettuce, tomato, slices of red onion, and lemon dill yogurt sauce before adding the top bun.

Pro tips

  • Don’t overmix the meat mixture or the burgers can become dense.
  • Wet hands lightly before shaping patties to prevent sticking.
  • Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty before grilling to help them cook evenly.
  • If your mixture feels too soft, chill the patties for 15-20 minutes before grilling.
  • These also cook well in a skillet or grill pan over medium heat.

  • Add more veggies – Finely diced bell pepper or sun-dried tomatoes would both taste delicious mixed into the burgers.
  • Make them feta stuffed lamb burgers – Instead of mixing the feta throughout, place feta cheese into the center of each patty for a stuffed burger version.
  • Swap the sauce – Try whipped feta, tzatziki sauce, or hummus instead of the lemon juice yogurt sauce for a different flavour.

Store leftover burgers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.

Substitutions, optional variations & dietary adjustments
