Jerk salmon salad
This salad has it all.
- Great protein (thank you salmon)
- Healthy fats (salmon + avocado)
- Loads of veggies (spring greens + micro greens)
- Tasty fruit (mango)
- Extra fiber (black beans)
- So much flavor (that dressing + jerk seasoning!)
The only way to make it better is to double it! It keeps well for a few days in the fridge in an airtight container and packs up well as a dish to take on the go.

If you’re looking for a homemade side that will give you some extra carbs, I highly suggest roasting a batch of sweet potatoes or making brown rice to enjoy on the side.
Jerk salmon recipe
The star of this dish is definitely the jerk salmon recipe!
To make the Jamaican jerk seasoning combine the nutmeg, clove, and allspice together to leave you with a flavorful jerk salmon that is phenomenal. The rich salmon filets and strong jerk seasoning really work.
Then when you add in the cooling mango and a bit of heat from the jalapeño, it all just comes together as it should!
You could definitely add mango salsa or pineapple salsa here for tons of great flavor.

Substitutions
Below you will find a list of substitutions for this jamaican jerk salmon recipe.
If you have other specific substitution questions about this simple jerk salmon salad recipe, please leave a comment below and I will respond to them there. Thank you!
Salmon – I wouldn’t recommend a different fish here, but I would suggest shrimp or chicken.
Extra virgin olive oil – Avocado oil is a great substitute for EVOO.
Greens – Use your favorite leafy green, or even a coleslaw or mango slaw would work really well in this dish.
Avocado – The avocado can be omitted. If you omit the avocado, sliced salmons would make a tasty addition to replace the fat.
Mango – Try peaches instead.
Jalapeno – To omit the heat, use green onions or red onion instead. To keep the medium heat, try scotch bonnet peppers.
Cilantro – Don’t have cilantro on hand? Try fresh parsley instead.
Lime juice – Lemon juice can be used.
Rice vinegar – Use apple cider vinegar as a substitute.
Maple syrup – Honey works as a substitute, just be sure to blend it into the dressing well.
Black beans – Any bean or lentil works well as a substitute.
