Easy 100% Whole Wheat Honey Drop Biscuits Recipe
Growing up whenever my dad made biscuits it always felt like a special occasion. To this day, biscuits still feel that way to me, so when I make them for my kids, it feels special and like a moment to pause for.
I love that I can bring that special feeling anytime with this super simple recipe. No kneading or fuss and the ingredients combine together in one bowl and are ready to be enjoyed quickly!
From start to finish, you’ll have a batch of homemade biscuits out of a hot oven in under 20 minutes.
We love serving these both sweet and savory. They have the perfect amount of sweetness from the honey to pair well with homemade jam, but aren’t too sweet to go great with gravy for the best biscuits and gravy.

What to serve with homemade biscuits
These homemade biscuits go well with sweet and savory options so enjoy them with many different breakfast favorites!
Scrambled eggs with chives, homemade gravy or country breakfast sausage are great additions along with a fresh fruit salad.
I love to pair warm biscuits with a little butter and homemade blackberry jam, strawberry rhubarb jam, or a drizzle of honey.
Turn your breakfast into a feast and serve it with smoked salmon breakfast casserole, chai hot chocolate, or cucumber celery juice along with it.
How to store
Leftover biscuits can be stored in the fridge or freezer. Once cooled to room temperature, add to an airtight container and keep on the counter at room temperature for 2 days, or up to 5 days in the fridge.
Warm biscuits in a warm oven or in the microwave before serving.
To freeze biscuits, add to a freezer bag in a single layer, label it, date it, and keep the biscuits frozen for up to 6 months. Defrost at room temperature before serving.
Substitutions
Below you’ll find a list of substitutions that will work well in this whole-wheat biscuits recipe.
If you try something different out, please leave a comment below letting us all know how it turned out!
Whole wheat flour – You can use whole wheat pastry flour or white whole wheat flour in place of the regular whole wheat flour. A combination of half whole wheat and half ap flour will also work in the flour mixture.
Unsalted butter – You can use salted butter, however, omit the sea salt. The biscuits will taste slightly saltier if using salted butter.
Milk of choice – I typically use almond milk or regular cow’s milk in this recipe and it works great! You can also use cold buttermilk in place of milk.

I just baked a batch of these biscuits, and they were a hit! The touch of honey adds such a nice sweetness. Have you ever tried incorporating herbs like rosemary or thyme into this recipe for a savory twist?
I’m so glad they were a hit, Mackenzie! I have made savory ones with added cheese and herbs. Super delicious!
