Healthy Frozen Yogurt Chocolate Protein Bites Recipe
After making my peanut butter high protein yogurt time and time again, I thought of a delicious new way to enjoy those flavors with these frozen yogurt bites.
The process to make them is super simple – make the peanut butter yogurt ice cream, add it into molds with a delicious chocolate coating, freeze them, and enjoy!
Each frozen yogurt bite gives you 8 gram of protein, which can be helpful if you’re trying to get more protein into your meals and snacks. Every little bit adds up throughout the day!
These square silicone molds are the perfect size and shape for square bites, but feel free to use a silicone mini muffin tin or even silicone ice cube trays here.

Why you’ll love this recipe
Sweet snack with benefits – Anytime I can add extra protein in a sweet treat, I am all for it! With these healthy frozen yogurt bites, you get 8 grams of protein per serving. They’re naturally low in sugar but taste like dessert. Yes, please!
Meal prep friendly – These little bites are perfect for meal prep. I love making a big batch and having them stored and waiting for me in my freezer. With 4 kids in the house, they go fast, so I like making a double batch so we don’t run out as quickly!
Healthy fats – Between the peanut butter, coconut oil, and dark chocolate, you’re getting lots of healthy fats. I like to use fat-free thick Greek yogurt in this recipe for the higher protein content, but if you’re wanting to increase the healthy fats a bit more, use full-fat Greek yogurt.

How to make frozen peanut butter yogurt ice cream bites
Step 1: Melt the chocolate and coconut oil together over a double boiler or in the microwave. Use a silicone brush to spread the chocolate on the bottom and the sides of a square silicone mold, silicone mini muffin pan, or a silicone ice cube tray. Place in the freezer to freeze (about 1 hour) while you make the yogurt filling.

Step 2: In a small bowl, mix the yogurt, peanut butter, and protein powder together until well mixed. Once the chocolate layer is set, add the yogurt mixture and top with the remaining melted chocolate. Optionally add crushed freeze-dried strawberries, chopped peanuts, or flaky sea salt on top. Place in the freezer for 4-6 more hours to fully freeze.

Step 3: Pop the yogurt protein bites out of the mold, and allow them to sit at room temperature for 5-10 minutes before biting into them and enjoying!

How to store
Since this is a frozen treat, once they are all made, the yogurt bites should be stored in an airtight container in the freezer. They will stay fresh for up to 6 months.
I love taking 1-2 out of the freezer 5-10 minutes before I want to enjoy them. Allowing the frozen bites to defrost slightly gives them the best creamy texture.

Substitutions, optional variations & dietary adjustments
Below you’ll find a list of substitutions that will work well in this frozen Greek yogurt bites recipe.
If you try something different out, please leave a comment below letting us all know how it turned out!
Dark chocolate chips – The chocolate coating can be made with your favorite type of chocolate, whether that be from dark chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate, or even white chocolate.
Coconut oil – Coconut oil helps to make the melted chocolate coating smoother. If you don’t have coconut oil, use avocado oil or extra virgin olive oil instead.
Plain greek yogurt – To help with a higher protein intake I perfer to use a fat-free thick yogurt here, but feel free to use whole milk Greek yogurt instead. You can also use a dairy-free yogurt like coconut yogurt – just make sure to look for a Greek-style one so that it’s thick and creamy.
Peanut butter – Other nut butters like almond butter, cashew butter, or even sunflower seed butter are good alternatives to PB. You can swap in peanut butter powder here, too!
Vanilla protein powder – Use your favorite whey protein powder or plant-based protein powder. If you use an unsweetened/unflavored protein powder or collagen peptides instead of protein powder, you can add a little vanilla extract and maple syrup for flavor and sweetness.
