Pumpkin Protein Shake Recipe – Best Fall Flavors!
I enjoy smoothie recipes all year long, but during the chillier months, I crave different flavors. Instead of smoothies with fresh blackberries or a strawberry smoothie, I swap for more fall flavors.
My sweet potato protein smoothie has been a long favorite, but I think this easy pumpkin smoothie is about to steal the show!
With warm spices, this is the kind of smoothie to enjoy in the BER months (September-December).

Substitutions
Below you’ll find a list of substitutions that will work well in this creamy pumpkin smoothie recipe.
If you try something different out, please leave a comment below letting us all know how it turned out!
Non-dairy milk – Unsweetened almond milk, cashew milk, coconut milk, and oat milk are great options. If you can tolerate dairy, regular milk will work too!
Pumpkin purée – Try this recipe with mashed sweet potato or mashed butternut squash! Pumpkin pie filling isn’t recommended since it is sweetened. If you plan to use it, choose an unsweetened protein powder so that that sweetness isn’t too overpowering.
Banana – Banana adds creaminess and sweetness to this pumpkin milkshake. For a non banana option, try frozen peaches which also give a nice creamy texture. You can also omit the banana and add more ice until you get the perfect consistency. If needed for sweetness, add a little maple syrup, honey, or coconut sugar.
Vanilla protein powder – Our go to is whey protein powder, but to make this a vegan pumpkin pie smoothie, opt for a plant-based protein powder.
Flax seed – Flax seed meal, chia seeds and hemp seeds are all great options for this recipe.
