Strawberry banana peanut butter smoothie
I love green smoothies because it’s an easy way to fill up a ton of veggies, but what if a kid is a bit nervous about the green color? That’s where this banana peanut butter strawberry smoothie comes in!
You’d never guess just by looking at it that cucumber would be in this delicious smoothie.
It’s pretty and pink, and is also loaded with hydrating and fiber-rich cucumber! If you have never put cucumber in your smoothie today is the day. It adds creaminess, bulks it up, and you can not taste it at all.
To balance this smoothie out we are including creamy peanut butter (yum) and collagen peptides.
Feel free to add protein powder (I’m sharing my favorites below) and/or chia seeds into this smoothie, which is a great way to up the protein and fat even more.
Want your smoothie thicker and creamier? Use frozen diced bananas instead of fresh ones! The more frozen fruits versus fresh fruits you use will thicken the smoothie.
You can also add chia seeds and let them sit for a few minutes after blending for a thicker smoothie, and then turn it into a smoothie bowl!

Substitutions
Below you’ll find a list of substitutions that will work well in this strawberry peanut butter smoothie recipe.
If you try something different out, please leave a comment below letting us all know how it turned out!
Carton coconut milk – You can use any non-dairy milk that is an unsweetened milk to replace the carton milk from a carton. Oat milk, unsweetened almond milk, hemp milk, cashew milk, or soy milk are all good options. Cow’s milk will work too, as will the option for plain kefir, Greek yogurt, or plain yogurt. Yogurt will result in a thick consistency with plenty of protein.
Banana – Frozen bananas can be used in place of fresh bananas to thicken the smoothie even more and give it more of a strawberry peanut butter protein shake feel.
Cucumber – Sliced zucchini is a great alternative to cucumber, as it won’t change the color of the smoothie. You can also use frozen cauliflower for a pink smoothie, or fresh spinach if you don’t mind the color change.
Fresh strawberries – To keep this a fruity smoothie, swap strawberries with other berries or other fresh fruit. Raspberries or cherries are good options that will leave you with a pink smoothie as the strawberry gives. You can also opt for frozen strawberries and omit the added ice.
Peanut butter – Almond butter and cashew butter are good substitutes for peanut butter. For a nut-free option, try sunflower seed butter or coconut butter. For peanut flavor without the extra fat, try using peanut flour (also canned peanut butter powder).
Collagen peptides – Collagen peptides can be omitted, or substituted with a plain unsweetened protein powder. The combination of strawberry and banana adds plenty of natural sweetness, so if you opt to go with a sweetened protein powder like vanilla protein powder, know that the smoothie will be extra sweet.
Vanilla extract – You can substitute vanilla extract with half the amount of almond extract for a delicious flavor.
