{free} printable chevron owl thank you cards

by Heather

I’ve felt kinda crafty lately. Maybe it’s part of the crazy nesting stage.  Maybe it’s just my way to save a few bucks. Whatever it is, I absolutely love it.

For the nursery I made two animal silhouettes for the wall.

mr. owl

mr. bird

Both have been hung in the nursery, which I will share once the nursery is all done. Just one more item to hang on the wall and I’ll get picture posted!

I absolutely love how they turned out. So much so that I made a puppy silhouette picture for a friend’s nursery.

They don’t know if they’re having a boy or a girl. There is no way I could have waited to find out! She’s due a day after me… it’s a race to the finish. I do like winning races… hehe 😉

The nursery isn’t the only place I decided to get a little crafty.  I decided to make my own thank you cards for my baby showers too.  Owls were one of the shower themes after all, so I knew I wanted something with an owl on it. I found a picture online that I liked (okay loved – owl plus chevron print!) tweeked it a bit in photoshop and voila I had my thank you cards!

So not only did I get custom, totally cute thank you cards, I saved money too. For the actual cards I found a pack of 50 blank cards + envelopes for around $7.00 at JoAnn Fabric.  Of course I used my 40% off coupon bringing the 50 cards + envelopes to $4.20… that’s less than 10 cents a card! Try buying cards for that price.  Sure can’t beat it.

The card size I used, which the word document was formatted to print on, was 4.375″ x 5.75″. Just the chevron owl thank you graphic is also created for the size of those cards, so if you stretch it larger I’m not sure how clear it will stay.

The pictures above do not show the correct color.  It looks more blue there, but in reality it’s teal like shown below.  I like the teal more anyways. 🙂

Here’s what you need to print your own totally awesome chevron owl thank you cards:

If printing from the word document, insert the blank cards with the widest part into the printer, so horizontally, not vertically.

That’s it!

I’m happy to say I have just 3 more thank you cards to write.  That’s a huge check off the old list.

Have you ever made your own cards?

I definitely see myself making more in the future, especially since I have lots of extra blank cards left over.  Plus I love how you can customize them!

Count down to due date: 10 days to go!
